I think it would be nice if, when looking at the Visitor page, there would be some kind of indication as to whether each visitor is a first-time or returning visitor. For example, a new column could be added, called "Visitor type" or something like that, and in each row it could say "First-time" or "Returning". Or, the column could be called "Returning Visitor", and in each row it could just say "Yes" or "No". Or even a simple asterisk beside the host name of returning visitors (and no asterisk for first-time visitors) would be really helpful.

This way, it would be much easier to track which visitors are loyal to or interested in our sites, and return after a first visit. I think this would be a great enhancement of the First-time/Returning Visitors count on the Summary page. :)

Hi,

Nice idea - we'll be doing it.

How about: Date of Last Visit ?

It could either give the date of that so we know it is a returning visitor, or just say "new"

Would that be possible?

It's certainly possible. I'm not sure if we'll be doing it or not.

This sounds like a great idea. Would be possible to include an extra column in the Visitors table which indicates the number of times a visitor has visited each page on your site?

Again, all these are possible.

I agree that it would be very helpful to track returning visitors somehow. In addition to marking individual visitors as "returning", it would be extremely helpful for me if I could also search for all returning visitors in my log file -- maybe via the "drill down" feature? It would be very convenient to search for returning visitors, then look at each of those individually instead of going through the entire log file looking for returning visitors.

Yeah we'll see what we can come up with.
