Page Loads and Unique Visitors - the same numbers...

One of my site's stats look fine: page loads are 3 - 4 times the number of visitors.

But on two other sites the Page Loads and Unique Visitors numbers are exactly the same. The configuration is the same on all sites.

What have I missed?

Try logging into your account > installation & configuration > edit project settings

and set the session length time to 1 hour. let me know if it makes a difference.

I'm having the same problem. I just installed my counter, and hit reload several times, and the stats show 8 pageloads, 8 unique visitors and 8 first time visitors, with no returning visitors. i tried following the above advice, shifting the cookie time from 6 hours to 1 hour, but no luck. any more advice?

It only works based on cookies. If you have cookies disabled it is impossible to work.

well, if i set my browser to allow all cookies, it works, but if i have it set on only allow cookies from sites i navigate to it doesnt work, for obvious reasons. thanks for the help, but i wonder just out of curiosity if it isn't possible to track unique users via i.p., since your site obviously has the capacity to get the user's i.p. you don't need to answer, im just curious. thanks for the promt reply, i think your service is great, keep it up!

It would require an immense amount of extra processing on each counter load.
