it just seems strange all the google ads come up with other web counter services, you must be very confident in your service to advertise the competition???

It certainly isn't normal business practise to be advertising your competitors.

This situation is most definitely under constant review and yes I am very confident in the StatCounter service.

This will more than likely change in the next few months, so our competitors better make the most of it while they can.

I must say the same question crossed my mind, and personally I think it is admirable to run adds for the competition!

I am guilty of having clicked on each add to check the competition. I am still here. That says something since I am not 100% happy with this service because of lack of permanent statistics, but still found this service to be overall superior to the rest.

So, run those adds for the competition. Nothing wrong with running the competion's adds and make a few pennies on clicks to help support your free service. I don't think you are going to lose any business!

Just my humble opinion.

Yep, I wondered exactly the same thing!

I've also checked out some of the competing services, particularly the ones that also advertise themselves as "completely free". Some have features that are different from this one, or display their data in other formats. I'm even considering using one or two of these in addition to this one.

But I have to say, Statcounter is still the best, and I seriously doubt I'll be leaving this service anytime soon. If nothing else, the kind of service and attention you get here is unbeatable; the forum alone makes Statcounter a more enjoyable service than any other I've seen.

All the same, I personally don't think advertising the competition is a good idea. :)

I agree with you in theory but you don't have to finance the hosting for 4 dedicated servers every month. :)

We will be removing it if it stops paying well or as soon as we bring more of our pay services on stream. I'm sure we are losing members to these other services because of it. They better make the most of it while they can.
