Why suddenly have to log in to view stats?

I have a link to my stats page. Suddenly I need to go through the login process to get to stats. I (I think) have stats set to public. Going around to back door to get in is a royal pain.

Do I need to add id and password to url?

No. You need to login to your account > project access > enable public stats

and use the link provided.
