Showing the most popular sites

I notice that my home page shows up several times in the popular site rankings i.e. top ranking, 3 ranking, 7 ranking. I was wondering why. Does it depend on how an individual accessed the home page?

One other item I noticed. If a person visits several pages on my site his operating system is recorded every time. Therefore the operating system count is skewed if one person visits ten times as many pages as another person.
