View Full Version : netscape 5.0?

Whenever I see any hit from a non-IE browser, its always netscape _5.0_, but I can't even find reference to there even being a 5.0 - I only find 4.7/4.8 and 6.1 (+). Could someone shed some light on whether this is a bug in statcounter or some weird proprietary version of netscape that might've been bundled somewhere (like w/ an old version of aol or something).

Thanks!

(Its driving me nuts b/c my page is using modern css positioning techniques instead of frames or tables, and I've tested it on all the other browsers I'm seeing in the logs except this one which I don't even know what it is. I want to make sure my page isn't looking like garbage for that 3% of my visitors.)

some more research is indicating that an early (all?) version(s) of mozilla (firebird) show(s) up as "netscape 5".. which would be fantastic and make much more sense percentage-wise, b/c it means my page is showing up properly for everyone. Again, this is something that if at all possible we should have the counter.js figure out and properly identify.

This bug has been reported already and will be fixed.

oh, thanks! Don't mean to be a pain or redundant, but I hadn't seen mention of that one before. Again, you can see how it was of practical importance for me to know.
