View Full Version : "NewBee" Webmaster
I have a website that has been made with "PageMill", a basic web creating softwear that came with my imac.
I don't know how to make my own pages (HTML).
At some point in the future I like to have a message board with password/username protection.
I have no idea on how to do this and would be indebted to anyone that can help this "NewBee" :)
Thyanks!!

Do you want to put the address up so that we can view it? :D
Hi geekgirl!
I really don't and I'll try to explain why.
The web site deals with a Labor Union Election comming up in June '04. The web site is promoting a Challanger to the current Union President.
We have around 6,100 members in our local. I upgraded my "Log Size" because of this.
Because we are the challangers, the StatCounter is going to be a vital tool in determining if our message is getting accross to the members, which part of NY State needs more effort and so forth.
If I disclose the web site here and 500 people visit it, it won't give me a true picture as far as the members of the Union visiting the site. The StatCounter can't tell me if they are members or not, which is very important to the election.
We lost the election three years ago by 400 votes and entering the race late. We really believe the web site will be a key factor for us seeing we represent alot of "inside" workers with access to computers.
I'd like to have a message board in the future that is only accessable to union members through a username/password set up.
I hope this makes sence and you are not offended.

The easiest way to introduce a Message Board is to sign up to a website that hosts them. I've been using a free message board from www.proboards.com for 2 years and I find them excellent. They also have good support. To see mine in action, go to www.catsup.co.uk/message.htm (The Reading Room forum is password protected, so if everything's working, you shouldn't be able to access it.)

You can even make boards not viewable unless they have a certain "rank" or whatever you like to call it so your opponents can't even try and guess the password to the board. You should definitley check out proboards.
