I've been playing with it for over an hour. I have read FAQ, and looked through the forum, tried what was suggested and still no stats.
I still have my old stats counter on the site, could this be the problem? I didn't want to take it off until I got the new one working.
Also, my old counter seems to be only randomly recording my own hits now. I had a friend log in at a specific time so I could see if either counter was working, but one time it showed on old counter, next time it didn't. And neither visit showed on StatCounter.
my website can be reached by 2 different URLs they are:
"www.harsensisland.blogspot.com"
"harsensisland.blogspot.com"
Please help, I have listed both the URLs in the right place, I think! :roll:
Thank you,

Hey Melon,
Check out CSE HTML Validator Lite at: http://www.htmlvalidator.com/lite/
I am not sure right now of your specific problem but it could be due to improper coding for your site. See if using this validator helps out.

ok, I tried using the html validator, but my page is not on my own server and you need the paid for version to check pages on the web. So I copied the page to Microsoft script editor, then opened it in the html checker, but it was no help.
Did you look at the script on my page, did it look right?
If you change things under configuration, like IP blocking or cookie block or unblock do you have to get the code again and change it in the webpage template?
Sorry I'm pretty new at this!

It had errors in it. I am assuming since you put the statcounter code on the site you have access to change the code? If so just do a View > Source and copy that into the validator and fix the problems and then upload that new code to the server. If you have any more questions on this let me know.

With My Projects > Configure > Edit Settings you do not have to reinsert the code, the IP Blocking and unique visitors are calculated on the server end.

ok...I fixed all the errors.
I took out the old SC code, went back and copied & pasted again and I still get a code corrupted error.
I notice that when I paste the lines break different than what it shows in your window when I copy it.
Your window where I copy from:
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
var sc_project=240702;
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="http://www.statcounter.com/counter/counter.js"></scrip
t><noscript>http://c1.statcounter.com/counter.php?sc_project=240702&java=0 (http://www.statcounter.com) </noscript>
when I copy & paste:
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
var sc_project=240702;
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="http://www.statcounter.com/counter/counter.js"></script><noscript>http://c1.statcounter.com/counter.php?sc_project=240702&java=0 (http://www.statcounter.com) </noscript>
No matter what I did it kept doing this!
So I just went in to the template again and put the cursor where the line should end, hit enter, AND...the error message is gone but I still cant see my visits.
So I must still be doing somehting wrong.
Originally I set it up to block my IP, then I realized I would want to see my visits to test things, so I highlighted and deleted my IP (but I can still see my Ip on the left in the box) Also, originally set cookie to ignore me then changed back to log my visits, but every time i check it it says I am not being logged and I have to change it again.
:oops: I know, I'm taking a lot of your time and I'm sorry for that, I have spent at least 4 hours now trying to do it myself! So I appreciate anything you can do to help. :lol:

Don't worry about taking up our time. Glad to help. I'll keep checking and trying to figure this out. Hopefully I can post a clean copy of code for your site tonight including the statcounter code so it all works. This problem is a tough one though. :)

It should still show your IP to the left of the input field, as long as it is not actually in that field it is not blocking it.
Try going to My Computer > C:\ > Windows > Temporary Internet Files
(This is for Win98 but it should be similar if you have XP) and Delete all your cookies and that should get rid of the statcounter cookie that is not logging your visits.

I found one statcounter cookie and deleted it. do the cokies all say statcounter? Last time I deleted all my cookies, it was a real pain, it seemed to really mess things up. I had to reset passwords and permissions and such. So I'd rather not delete them all if i don't have to.
Let me know please.

Yes the statcounter cookies all will have statcounter so if you just delete those that is fine. Has it tracked any hits yet?
EDIT: I'll see if I can get anywhere on this tomorrow, no luck fiddling with stuff tonight.

hi i just hit it for you so you can check it..
i did peek on the code i see you have the blogger code counter for hits on it too right above the statcounter code..could that be affecting it??maybe take that one off & just try statcounter?
ALSO i have a blog.ok...it is a templete kind of deal...it seems very picky on where and how i would add anything
my blog has some weird type of code ..
maybe ask them at the blog site if they are blocking it now somehow..or just exactly how to do it..
just a suggestion..good luck
nice to see how helpful statcounter is really wonderful guys
