I have had 5 different people and 38 page views on my site since starting with your counter.
When I goto the browser stat I see that 36 people are using IE and 2 people use netscape.
Now it is obvoius to me that the browser stat is counting page loads and not unique visits.
The problem arises when I have 10 IE users each view 5 pages and 20 netscape users only view 1 page. The browser counter is going to say that 50 people use IE and 20 people use netscape. In reality my site has more netscape users then IE but this stat is telling me i have more IE users.
In its current setting this statistic is not giving me any valuble information.
This problem also applies to the Popular, Resolution and OS sections.
It is based on pageloads, we'll see what we can do about adding an option for basing it on unique visitors as well.

Do you see how the statistic can be squewed? If some hungry Netscape user spend 3 hours on your site viewing 400 pages but 90% of other viewers use IE you may still think more Netscape users view your site.
Yes. But you were easily able to find out exactly what the real situation was. So it can't be all that bad! Can it?
But yes it can be skewed, but you can also look at it from the point of view, that this is the most common browser being used on your site. Why is one browser viewing so many more pageloads than another.
Stats, stats everywhere but not a drop to drink.
You're right though, we need to add a statistic for basing it on unique visitors and pageloads depending on your mood.

There's another reason why you need this information based on visitors instead of pageloads.
Perhaps the reason the IE people walk your site and NS users bail is that your site doesn't look good under NS.
I think this is part of a general concept -- for every feature, it's sometimes useful to see it by pageloads and sometimes by visitor.
To me, the visitor is much more interesting. Seeing the paths and decisions, and being able to map that to referrer, keywords, country, even browser is quite useful. If there are patterns with short visits versus long, they can help you build a better site.
As I said in my long post in another thread, anything you can do to help us understand how to make our site better is going to directly save/make us money, and therefore we can justify spending the savings on your service. :-)
And again, the service is off to a great start.
yes, yes you all want more, more, more now, now now. I understand. And please keep on telling us what you want.
We'll be doing our best to offer the option to display based on unique or pageloads depending on your mood.
