Hello

I'm experiencing the following problem: one visitor last night from Japan with one IP address is showing up as multiple visitors (30 in this case). Any idea what's going on?

My username is chrisgodfrey (if you have time to look at the actual data).

Also, I have one visitor with an aol account, which seems to allocate a different IP address every page load. As he is one of my most frequent visitors, this tends to screw up the stats! Funnily enough, sometimes he is logged as a single visitor even though his IP changes.

What's happening?

Many thanks for the excellent service. I pay $9 a month and I think it's worth every penny.

I think this must be a UK thing.

There I was thinking that the search engines had started to send me visitors again, only to discover that the IP addresses keep on repeating themselves.

Why are they being counted as separate visitors within the space of less than a minute?

BTW some ISPs do not allocate a unique IP address to users. Instead they are randomly allocated an IP address. Some systems are set up so that each page view is given a different IP address. I hope this helps.

Well, it's not a UK thing. I'm experiencing the same thing. One user visits 8 pages & is counted as 8 unique & 8 first-time visitors.

Well if they have cookies blocked then StatCounter cannot see that they have been to the site and counts them as unique. It depends on your unique visitor time limit (how long it has to be before they visit again for it to count as unique) and on their browser security settings for cookies. Hope this helps.

Ok, thanks for the response. I'll check those things & see if it makes sense.
