Standards Compliance

I am trying to use Statcounter on a site that I want to be XHTML compliant.

The page will not validate with the Statcounter code on it because there is not closing slash for the image tag.

Statcounter says that the code should not be altered, but would adding the closing slash to the image URL cause any problems?

If it would cause a problem, could Statcounter to update the code to make it compliant or does anyone know another way around the problem?

We'll be adding an option for xhtml compliance as well.

We added an option for xhtml compliance let me know if it works.
