View Full Version : Counter confusion

I have Statcounter installed on 4 different sites, none of which are getting all that much traffic. This morning (this is not the first time), one site's summary page shows 11 page loads, 6 unique visitors, 6 first-time visitors, and 0 returning visitors. The visitor page shows 3 visitors. One of the 3 is a regularly returning visitor (13 times).

Yesterday's summary for this site shows 10 page loads, 6 unique, 5 first-time, and 1 returning visitor. Visitor page shows only 2 visitors. Both are returning visitors.

Can anybody explain what I'm seeing? Clearly, something doesn't jibe here. Why is a returning visitor not noted as such? Why are so many visitors counted as a unique visitor for each page load? This is too common to point at disabled cookies. I know who some of them are, and they wouldn't have a clue how to disable cookies.

Any help would be appreciated. I like the software's interface, but the stats have to be correct for it to be worthwhile, regardless of price.

TIA
