have been reading the thread about disabling right clicking and i would like to add my perspective.

i am disabled. i have photosensitive epilepsy and many web pages flicker enough to cause me to have a seizure. many graphics will do it, even sometimes dithered colors.

one way i cope with this is to surf with pictures turned off in my browser. on bad days i turn off color.

many web sites don't work well with pictures turned off because there are no ALT tags. as i type this i am looking at the emoticons to the left. every single one has an ALT tag so that i can know what they are without looking at the picture. all the graphics on this site have excellent ALT tags and i never have a problem using it. a blind person using a reader could navigate this site with no problems whatsoever.

if your graphics all have good ALT tags blind people can use the site with no problems and the sighted with pictures turned off can navigate without needing to right click.

when navigation buttons don't have ALT tags, the only way for a disabled person with pictures turned off in their browser to figure out how to navigate the site is to right click on the icon and then click on "Show Picture" or whatever it is in another browser. when you disable right clicking you prevent sighted disabled people from navigating your site.

this makes us very sad. bad enough to be rejected by a person, but being rejected by a web site? making a page friendly to the disabled is quite simple, and you have no idea how much you will brighten the day for many people by doing so.

Thanks for that Diane. I am working on v2 of my own site and try to always have alt tags. I'll make sure all images do now. :)

EDIT:
Oh you may want to look into using a browser such as Firefox or Mozilla, all of the right click functions that I have wanted to get around to view properties or somesuch do not disable it in Firefox.
