embed counter.js inside web site

Would it improve performance to have the 'counter.js' file in the local web site directory instead of accessing it via a URL?

I see that there are embedded pages it accesses which are on the StatCounter site but it would reduce the request by one from the StatCounter site.

It would reduce the request but since we keep StatCounter to a very quick load so it would not reduce it by much. In addition, if the counter.js code was improved then those who had it on their own server would have to replace it and would encounter possible problems until they did so.

You have to use the script from Statcounter as provided by Statcounter.
