I post this again since my last post never was answered.
There are still some changes needed to be done to make the counter XHTML valid
For the javascript you need to change the document.write to
document.writeln('<div class="statcounter">'+sc_tracking_url+' (http://www.StatCounter.com)</div>');
and this as well
else if (window.sc_text) {
document.writeln('<scr' + 'ipt src="' + sc_tracking_url + '" type="text/javascript"></scr' + 'ipt>');
}

Try using the support option at the top of your projects page. I got a response within 30minutes.

no response from support
I'm feeling ignored, maybe they don't like suggestions? :?

Hi SubZane,
All of my pages validate at W3C with the original java script that statcounter provides. Are you using some other source to validate your pages?

sure it validates HTML 4.01 but NOT XHTML 1.1
that's why I'm posting here but the owners keeo ignoring it only proving their own incompetence
so please webmasters! prove yourself competent enough to reply since this is 2-3 weeks since I asked the question
I like your idea about the code validating in XHTML, but you're being a bit rude now, where else could you find a free, invisible counter that validates in HTML?

I'm irritaded cuz I was asked by the webmasters here what changes needed to be made to make it XHTML 1.1 valid, but when provided they just ignored it

My site won't even validate as Strict XHTML 1.0 with the counter code inserted. So it stands to reason that the purer XHTML 1.1 doesn't have a prayer! And just in case anyone's wondering if I checked W3C and XHTML compliant in the configuration options, YES I DID.
You see, the W3C validator tells me that "language" is not a valid attribute of the script tag.
PLEASE...please, someone fix this! I don't want to lower the standards of my pages to XHTML 1.0 Transitional just to accommodate the counter. But I really want to use the counter, so DO SOMETHING about this.
AARRGGG! :x

I am ignorant and I'll openly admit it. Where, on what machine and with what OS and browser does the Statcounter code actually fail? And what exactly happens when it fails?
thx for the info SubZane I do appreciate it, but when we're short of time we have to focus on the critical features - ie keeping the service running fast and efficiently.
I've added your changes to the xhtml compliancy - seems to be working now.

Some of us do take pride in their work and don't wanna put just any crap on their website, but prefer real (X)HTML.
Always nice when your site doesn't only work with IE6 in quirky mode, but with all (future) browsers.

All FUTURE browsers? I think I've had enough of all current browsers' quirkiness without bothering with the future ones as well :roll:

Its real simple:
1. Write to A HTML/XHTML Standard
2. All Browsers display the page the way its ment to be displayed
3. Everybodys happy
4. F M$
