Hi, obviously I am new to all of this. I keep finding a ton of sites that I can pay to get listed on the search engines but I am cash poor. I built the site for free for a friends band. I looked on google and they said don't bother submitting because they say they will find it eventually anyway so don't waste your money. I appreciate any info that any of you can give me. Thanks!

Free and great, I've used it for my site and it works just fine.

It's right what they say about Google finding it HOWEVER Google needs links to follow. I struggled for ages with this problem but it all turned around when I set up a couple of Reciprocal Links. Good links will also push you way up the rankings.

One that works well for me is http://www.iwr.com/free/

I am a firm believer in exchanging links with others as a great way of bringing in extra traffic, and I would be happy to exchange links with you if you decide to go that route.

One word of warning. Unless it has changed recently Google only passes through the net about once a month. You will not see results overnight ... it took me many frustrating weeks before I was eventually found.

All the best
John

Thanks guys for your help, it is much appreciated! I also had a friend say I need to put meta tags on the website. He said it will help the crawlers find me? Sounds a little Minority Report to me!!! Just joking. Thanks again and let me know what your website is and I will run it past my friend. He has the final say on linking to external sites.
