Country mismatch

A visitor of my site is from "United Kingdom" according to the "visitor" page, but when I load the details of the user it is from "Italy, Rome". My counter username is "giacomogd1".

I may be totally wrong, but my theory is that the particular ISP your visitor uses has its headquarters in Italy, even though it provides service in different countries. Thus it will be identified as Italy.

I have a friend from Texas who visits my site often and her ISP shows as being from Hawaii. Other visitors using the same ISP also are mapped to Hawaii, despite them being from different states in the US.

My own ISP maps to Toronto, Ontario, while I am located in Montreal, Quebec (Canada). Head office is indeed in Toronto.

So I don't think it's a problem with Statcounter as such.
