Hi, Webmaster! Tried to PM you about this, but that didn't work. So here it goes:
You could upgrade to the latest version of phpbb: 2.0.8 plus a couple of security fixes. Mind you, I don't know how extensive your current customizations really are, but ordinarily the upgrade is quite easy to do. Check it out at http://phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=183982.
After that you can easily (really) install the spellcheker from www.spelchek.com :)
