I discovered that for all my projects I have a missing picture symbol for the summary graphs. I had to sign out and sign in again to get them back. Curious as to what changes may have caused this.

I have experience the same problem with the stats graph missing. It was occurring on multiple computers.

Signing off and on again from statcounter fixed it in each case.

I wonder what in the session cookie would cause this behaviour.

Oops. I did not think of copying the cookies before signing on again with work's computer to fix the problem.

I have another computer at home that may still have the problem. I will check it out tonight and if it does, snapshot the cookies for a comparison.

OK, it's missing again. So at this point I feel that there's some bug in the way this cookie works of late, unless I have a acquired a an IE bug myself somehow

Here is my session cookie (at least I hope this is the right one):

How the heck do I read this stuff?

Logged out, signed back in and graph is back. Hohum! :?:

OK, it's missing again. So at this point I feel that there's some bug in the way this cookie works of late, unless I have a acquired a an IE bug myself somehow

It is not IE as I get the problem with both IE and Firefox.

I got home and found it was broken again (only two hours onsite today).
After taking a snapshot of the cookie, hey-presto, it was fixed again. Without signing on again :!:

Did StatCounter change something around 2am 7-Sep-2004 GMT :?: :?

How do you take a snapshot of the cookie? I tried copying it and I had an unfamiliar prompt so I backed out of that. Instead I simply copied it's contents to the clipboard and pasted it here. I still had to sign out and sign back in to fix it - at least I think it hadn't gotten fixed by my simply staring at the cookie's contents :?

I opened the cookie with TextPad and saved it elsewhere. I have also just dragged the file elsewhere.

Well it is not working again :?: Did I imagine the graph appearing awhile ago :?: I have logged off and on again but the cookie does not appear to have changed.

I think I will have to check where Firefox keeps its cookies.

LOL! I do believe you must have imagined it.

I appeared to be signed out just now mysteriously and had to log in again. I know I hadn't logged out the last time, so there's something kind of stale about this cookie I'd say. Of course, this guaranteed I got to see the graphs from the start, but I'm not thrilled at the prospect of signing in every time .... too many damn user codes and passwords to keep track of and I don't like using those plug-ins that save all that stuff for you. Actually I don't' know which is worse (or better, depending on point of view): a cookie to keep me signed in or an IE plugin to remember all my codes & passwords for subsequent logins.

Well I have discovered that Firefox stores all its cookies in one file. I snapshot it before signing off and on again and did the same with IE. Only the session cookies appears to be different.

Below are the appropriate bits that had changed. What it means I do no know.

Firefox Before

Firefox After

.... too many damn user codes and passwords to keep track of and I don't like using those plug-ins that save all that stuff for you.I use an electronic organiser with a secured section to store the different UserIDs and Passwords I require. It can be months between times that I use the different ones. It is just a pain when I forget to change the batteries and they all get lost.

No happy juice here either but by Golly, I'm not imagining this. I never sign out unless I have to and then I sign back in again. Bu this is why I'm wondering if I haven't acquired an IE bug which may well hide cookies in different places. Strange things involving cookies have happeend quite often on my PC, especially after an IE crap-out which happens now and then due to some unidentified conflict. Been trying to find that bugger and haven't been sucessful. This is why I'm not sure that this is s Statcounter problem or my own. The latter wouldn't surprize me one bit. But it is strange that we'd both be having the same problem.

And then again, maybe we've both had the same Windows/IE/Norton/Adaware/Spybot update which may be playing havoc with things. I'm open to believe anything.

I am running in both Firefox and IE. They are both experiencing the problem.
Once I leave the Statcounter site the graph is no longer present on returning. It is as if the graph code is not locating the session cookie

It is giving me logon failures with firefox if during the one firefox instance I go to statcounter signon and tell it to remember me, leave statcounter and return.

Next step is to remove all statcounter cookies and re-enter the site.

Bingo

I think I have a missing part to the problem. I have been using a link to get directly to the Statcounter graph.

http://www.statcounter.com/project/standard/stats.php?project_id=189923

This used to previously detect that I was logged on and everything worked fine with the graph showing up. Now it does not.

If I go to http://www.statcounter.com statcounter detects that I am signed on. If I then go to Projects and then Statistics it works fine.

The problem appear to be that the link I have always been using no longer works correctly.

Deleted all cookies that mention statcounter in any way shape or manner. Signed back into the forum. Signed back into my Statcounter account, asking it to remember me. Graphs present. Closed IE. Opened IE again, went to my account, I'm still logged in, no graphs :?

Methinks somebody's monkeyed around with the Statcounter cookie creation or the use it makes of these cookies, in the last few days at least.

This looks a lot like a Statcounter bug right now.

OK!

As determined by Ian above, my bookmarked SC account link is what's causing the cookie problem.

It appears that we have to use the My projects link in the forum to go to the account, and the Forum link in the account to get back to the forum, rather than bookmarks for the projects.

Don't know enough about cookies but it feels like a bit of a mixup in the different cookies set by SC, or how they are being interpreted, depending on the path used.

Getting a splitting headache over said cookies

Have change my shortcut link from
http://www.statcounter.com/project/standard/stats.php?project_id=189923
to
http://my.statcounter.com/project/standard/stats.php?project_id=189923
and it works correctly again. :D

When did my.statcounter.com replace www.statcounter.com :?:

Sorry to cut our conversation short earlier Christina :( The phone was going crazy and I had to answer it. Work always gets in the way.

LOL! No problem!

But it seems that www.statcounter.com and my.statcounter.com (http://my.statcounter.com) have been trading places a few times already. Just when you think it's safe to bookmark one, the other one appears to take its place.
