Hello all!
I want to give you guys a small preview of my new affiliatte HALLOWEEN site. I'm so excited because it's almost finished!
http://www.halloween.the-pinata-maker.com
Please feel free to give me your feedback. I'm particularly interested in those who use DIAL UP. As I said it's only a preview of the homepage without links. Enjoy!

It loads quickly! (i'm on dial-up)
the voice is scary :)
The red and black menu bar is not working, but I guess thats cos its a prototype.
I thought the red and black menu was at the bottom of the page so I didnt realise to scroll down. (I have that problem on one of my pages). You might like to close up the space between the two so its obvious theres more below the menu bar.
I like the way the voice doesnt repeat on a loop. Once is enough, but the full controls are there to play it again.
It looks clear and simple... and that is good :)

but the full controls are there to play it again.
Do you mean that appears any kind of buttons or controls in your screen?...

The audio control box is on the screen down the bottom, on the left. Its actualy the small Windows Media player.
ahhh I see what you mean.. you expect it to be hidden
<embed src="http://the-pinata-maker.com/otherpages/horror.wav"
autostart="true" hidden="yes">
But mine shows..

That's because it should be hidden=true actually :) (http://www.webreference.com/js/column20/embed.html)
If you specify width=0 and height=0 inside the embed tag, the player will be hidden. You can play with the width and height and have more or less of the player controls showing.
And I was just thinking you would benefit from converting that wav file, even though it's quite small, to wma, which is quite a bit smaller. This will allow your page to load faster. You wav is 8-bit PCM, 11Khz, mono and it is 60K. I converted it to wma 6kbps, mono, 8Khz, and it is down to 8K.
For all forms of audio file conversions, you can get free converter software from www.dbpoweramp.com which I highly recommend if you plan on using audio files on your web pages regularly or any other uses (like getting mp3 files for your mp3 player).

WOW!! You guys are great!... actually this is the first time that I handle audio files. Personally I don't like to use autostart audio files in websites: take a lot of time to load and can be boring to the visitor.
In this case, I believe the audio is justified -I guess- and it's combined with the background image. What do you think guys?
Mark, thanks for your feedback. Chris, thanks for the tip, hopefully now the file is hidden.

Of course, for a halloween page you'll need audio!
You may want to check out the page I used for my Songwriters' Chat Room Portal last halloween:
http://songwriters-chat.webado.com/index-halloween.shtml
It will have to be updated for this year, starting with changing the name and fixing broken links elsewhere, but that's another story :D

Hello everyone again!
Finally I finished to build my Halloween affiliate site:

Hope you enjoy your visit and like the site.
(I'm not sure if the pics can load fast for DIAL UP)
