You should post a link to your web page.

This is my friend's site that I built for him. I placed the code on the index page

Hi,
I'm having the same problem, the counter shows all right in IE and Opera, but not anymore (it used to!) in Firefox. I tried re-installing the code, to no effect. (http://www.doggiez.nl)

Putty & Doggiez: the counter shows for both of you in Firefox OK!

It does tend to blend in with the background, but it is there nevertheless.

You can play with the digits and background colors in the counter configuration to make it stand out more if that's what you want.

Christina,
I don't understand! I know it's not very visible, I made it a light grey because I don't like screaming counters. But in MY Firefox it really IS NOT there. I can see it in other browsers, but in FF it doesn't even use the space it needs. It was there two days ago, and now it isn't. (version is 0.9.3, but it also was two days ago).
I hope Putty has the same story or I will feel very stupid for not seeing what you obviously can see...

[edit: okay, I made the digits black and still can't see it!]

[edit again: neither can I see the counter on Putty's page]

Aha! Look around for some settings in Firefox to enable javascript and stuff like that. I don't particularly know where to look because I don't use Firefox for anything but little tests and I guess I'm lucky it has all the plugins and settings I need.

Found it, thank you! Javascript was enabled, but under 'load images', 'for the originating web site only' was enabled. Disabling that solved the problem. Maybe this will help Putty too.

You page shows fine in both IE 6.0 and Firefox 0.8, so it's whatever settings you have yourself.

You may be blocking certain sites in Firefox.

I am using Firefox PR 1.0 if that is causing it?.

UPDATE: It was Ad-Block on Firefox that was filtering out the counter!.

My system: Win XP
Mozilla Firefox 1.0
User name: musafir
Blog site: http://pacetua.blogspot.com/

Went through the installation today. Counter not visible.

After browsing the Forum I amended some settings (ad block, Javascript, etc.) but still not successful.

Any suggestions?

For some strange reason I cannot see the source code of your blogger page (must be my workstation settings but I'm at work and won't bother to change them).

Anyway, did you place the statcounter code in the template just before </body>? And are you using a visible counter?

Thanks.

I'm fairly new at this sort of thing. When I went through the installation procedure don't believe that I saw instructions to place the statcounter code in in the template as you described.

What do I need to do-----start from scratch or is there a fix ?

Well, where did you place the Statcounter code? Or did you place it anywhere at all? Just creating a project in Statcounter doesn't automatically insert it into your web site, whether it's a blog or any other type.

About the only place I can think of is in whatever html template you are using from Blogger, the same way you'd do any kind of customizations there. Find the </body> tag in there and place the counter code just above it, as created from Install Code in your Statcounter admin page.

I just noticed that you're using the Atom feature from Blogger. I'm not familiar with how that works or even what that really is, I've only just seen it mentioned on the Blogger site. I set up my blogs before Atom was around, before even Blogger was part of Google. Lots of things have changed there since that time and I haven't caught up with them all.

First, open a tab to your Stat Counter code page. Next, open a tab to your Blogger template. Way down at the bottom of your tempate, way past the 'Add things to your sidebar here' section, is where you want to put your code. Actually, I don't know exactly where you want to, it's just a recommendation.

Anyway, go back to the Stat Counter section, copy the code, and then paste it into your template. Save the changes and then hit the blue button to republish your index. View your blog. That should do it. hth...

Thanks, Christina and Weber Blue

Went through the process from scratch.
Copied the html code into the body,
just below <style type> and over the line that reads "body(margin), etc.

Saved template changes

Republished the blog

Still no show. What did I do wrong? I'm about to throw in the towel.

The latest status.

Now I see an entry on my page that reads: Free Hit Counter

But there is no image of the counter.

Well, again I cannot see your source code for some very strange reason. But I see you're using gostats.com so maybe you're mixed up between counters?

There's also an error in a script on your page with a missing ; somewhere.

Load your blog into a window. View>Page Source. Just above your stats code there is a div and body. Your stat code has to go above these two.

Caveat: You're not going to see you stats here using a gostats script, unless there's a trick I don't know about.

You're welcome, though I still don't see where you've stashed the Statcounter code! I still see only gostats.com. Whatever, if it works for you now, that's fine with me

I just thought I'd let you know that I had the same problem a while ago of Firefox not showing the counter, but IE working fine. I found there was an error being shown in Firefox's JavaScript Console concerning Statcounter.

Basically what fixed it was giving my page a character encoding scheme, which it lacked. I set the charset to UTF-8 and now the counter shows up fine everywhere.

I figured I'd post this in case anyone in the future has a problem similar to this. Just something new to try that I didn't see in any other threads.

Not having a charset defined results in various browsers either not working at all or working badly in some or all circumstances. It is a required element of a web page. IE forgives lots of things, improvises, uses some defaults, Firefox and others don't.
