Hi

Aother post from me...

Has anyone got a free discussion forum attached to their website? If you do, what do you think of it and how would you rate it out of 10? Can you recommend anyone? How secure is it and do the users have to put in a password before they can post on the site? Are they easy to install and user friendly? How much control would I have if it was attached to my site?

My web developers were supposed to integrate a discussion board on my new website, but have now gone back on their word and are suggesting adding a board from a free company instead.

If your web hosting supports PHP and MySql databases, you can get a phpbb forum (free from www.phpbb.com ).

Installation and configuration are relatively easy, but not for a total newbie.

You can configure it in many ways, with or without signing in requirements, among other things.

Otherwise you'll have to go with free forums hosted elsewhere, but they mostly kill you with ads, pop-ups and other crap. Also you may not have a lot of control over the configuration.

PHPBB can be configured a lot to match the site's flavor. And it's free.

That is what said (except the free bit).

For hosted sites if you haven't PHP etc have a look at these;

Warm greetings Christina,

2.11 am in the uk. Too late to discuss. I am going to post a code question in a minute so you may have to get your thinking cap on.

Thanks everyone

That's great! I'll be investigating all of them. It's good to know that it's quite easy to add on to your existing site.
