I have lots of visits from people in Australia and New Zealand who are finding exactly what they were searching for, but they never buy. Does anyone know if this would be because PayPal is the only purchasing option?

With thanks,
- Gilly

Hi Gilly,

Your option or thier option? You need to put your URL into the message to let people view.

Often people do not want to sign up to Paypal to buy online. They want quick and with as few details as possible. It could be this.

Not sure how the NZ/Aussie Paypal works. The US now allows people to pay by credit card without signing up. Ours (UK) still has the sign up and Paypal seem to have no plans to introduce this into the UK (I asked).

There are other payment services which allow major credit cards to be taken without a Merchant Account and without a sign up. These, at present do not take debit cards but include Visa and Mastercard and you can be UK based.

I am using one at the moment but it is pointless visiting my site as it has been down all day (Cheers BTconnect).

Thanks for answering. The URL is http://www.it-can-be-arranged.biz

What I meant is that I offer only PayPal and NOCHEX payment options. I couldn't find anything else that seemed comparable. I have, though, just filled out an application with merchantinc.com, which advertises with StatCounter. Not sure what I'm getting into there though.

Cheers,
- Gilly

Hi Gilly,

Looks like I will have to get my 6 string Fender out.

As you know Paypal needs a sign up here (UK). Not very clean and I think they are missing an opportunity. Although I would guess they don't need the money! Just looked at NOCHEX. Looks like a Paypal cross and better than most. I didn't look at the charges but there is the £100 no member limit which is quite low. They take debit cards though so this is good. Am I right in thinking you are instantly allowing a download? If so you will need to make sure you have confirmation of payment first (IPN) unless NOCHECKS allow 2 URL's for sucessful and non-sucsessful payments (for each downloadable). Or are you emailing on a sucsessful payment?

Oh yes and your card details screen seems to be not to be on a secure server.

The first checkout page (after you've clicked on *add to cart*) is not on a secure server, but then if you click on either NOCHEX or PayPal, the next page is secure.

Hi Gilly,

I don't think it is. The address bar should be showwing Https:// (s for secure) and there is no closed yellow padlock on the bottom left of the screen.

How are you sending the pdf?

It's secure in Safari (Apple browser), Opera and Mozilla and Camino, but not - I now see, thanks to you - in Internet Explorer.

Thanks very much. I will look into this.

Hi Gilly,

The padlock is bottom right not left.

The link you need is;

http://www.nochex.com/logos/checkout.html

All you need to do is capture the customer email, price and your ID code. This is then pushed through to the NOCHEX secure page for the card details on the link shown in the above link. You also need to make sure you get payment before you allow downloading.
