View Full Version : Sort drill downs in date order

I would *really* *really* *really* find it useful if you could sort the drill downs by DATE - in the "most popular" pages directly. That way it would be easy for me to see where my newest members originated from. Right now it sorts it by IP address which is useless for me. I can't sort thru all the drill downs to find the most recent. If this feature was added, I would find statcounter much more useful.

not sure what you mean.

I presume there is some registration page on your website, and you drill down on that page to see all the new visitors who registered with you.

I don't understand what you mean by drilling down on the date.

You want to drill down for a particular day? That will be part of the advanced statcounter project due for release by the end of november.

I mean to be able to order the order the drill downs appear in, by date.

Sounds like a good idea!

right now it looks like they are ordered by IP. Any chance this sorting feature will be added sometime in the future?

yeah i really like this idea but the drill downs are very complicated already - but we'll definitely be adding it

Sounds like a really useful feature.
IMHO it would be even more useful, if it could be sorted by date and time.

In hope that more replies might lead to greater attention to wishes on the list, "me too!" I switched from GoStats to Stat Counter and love the reports available. However, the inability to sort hits by date/time is frustrating. Ideally, the "Country/State/City/ISP" drill down should sort (within Country Name) by date/time BY DEFAULT.

Hope to see this feature soon!

Bula team,

If the popular page could be in date order would make life so much easier.

Please add onto this thread if you want this feature.

Maybe it will be our Xmas present from the powers that be !!!

Merry Xmas.
Grant.

What you have in date order is the log itself, Recent Plageloads.

Popular pages by definition are in page order - from the most popular to the least popular - so by number of hits to each page in fact.

I, too, think it would be very helpful to have the ability to sort hits by date/time especially in the ISP page. Then I could see a general listing of visitors for a given date and drill down on a particular one if desired.

The list of ISP's is sorted isn descending order of the frequency of occurence of each ISP.

For a given ISP the individual entries are sorted by IP address. For a given IP address the entries are sorted chronologically.

Where do you see the date as being relevant in relation to ISP's?

I agree with the date and time feature as a general addition to the stats. I'd love to know the actual time that each user is visiting my web site....

:edit: I found the info ;-)

Every log entry has the date and time on it, and that is Recent Plageloads. Recent Visitors shows every IP adddress and you can drill down on it and see when they have visited, date and time.

What am I missing in what you are asking?

Ah, I see that now. I never spent much time surfing through the detailed "IP Address" information, so I never saw that it showed date and time details for each individual user, what time they viewed each page, etc.

Before, I was referring to the "Recent Visitor Activity" page. I noticed the "number of entries" and the date and time there, but I was looking for the time each visitor visited each page...I didn't realize that information was available when you click the magnifiying glass. Forgive a newbie! ;)

This feature still doesn't seem to be implemented, no chance of seeing it soon?

cheers

Did you read all the posts?

This would rock.

Just having a toggle button, on a page that generates a list in IP address order, to let us optionally select Date / Time order instead, would be hella useful.

Each log entry may have date and time, but the drilldown lists do not all include date / time, nor are they sequenced that way.

What I was seeing, at least in my head, was the ability to see each visit to a given page, in date / time order. Date / time is not relevant to ISP information. But it is relevant INSTEAD of ISP information.

You present the individual pages, as Entry Pages, Exit Pages, and Popular Pages. Having selected one page for drill down analysis, I am currently presented with a list by IP address.

If I could see each hit on a selected page, sequenced by when it happened (not by IP address), without having to drill down one more level, hit by hit, I could see when I'm getting hits generated by page changes. Looking further, I could then see which changes generated multiple hits.

Now the Recent Pageload Activity presents all 100 (1000, whatever) log entries, and that shows each page visit. But thats not from a drilldown list, nor does it lead to a drilldown entry. It's flat.

In summary, I think date / time overall is as important as ISP (IP address) overall, for individual pages, in the drilldown lists.

Yes this is something that would be very useful. Just to clarify that at the moment if you do a drill down on a popular page it displays the visitors to that page sorted by IP address (see pic below) and shows no date unless you click into them (slow and annoying to find recent visitiors). I think it would be far more useful if it was sorted by date or have the choice to sort by IP address or date. The image below shows how it is currently sorted by IP address.

Even if it displayed the date in the table that would be nice!

Yep, this would be a really useful addition. On one of the sites I manage (involves conference room booking) I have an enquiries page with contact phone numbers and an online enquiries form. Whilst I can track users who complete the online enquiry form through a database connection, many users do not use this form - they simply call up and book conference rooms. By enabling me to see chose "by date" as an option in popular pages I can track these users with much greater ease,

Recent pageloads is sorted by date and time (reverse order). Perhaps this will be mroe useful to what you want to do .

Not really, this functionality in popular pages is more as it is really only a couple of pages I want to see in terms of date of access. At the moment I can click on the page I want within popular pages but obviously once drilled down on the page can only see a lsit of ip addresses in no dated order. To locate the pages I want through recent page loads is too time consuming:)
