How to create a pdf file

I want to know hot to create or convert to a pdf file.

I have an microsoft word file that i want to put on the web, and want to covert to a pdf file so people can download from website and print it out.

I don't know about Adobe software or how easy it is to use or how expensive it is.

I found a good solution with PDF995. It's a printer driver that you install (just like any other printer) so when you select Print from any application you can select the PDF "printer" and spool it out to a PDF file. Cheap too , less than $10 as I remember (or free if you can put up with the ads).

The ads in PDF995 only occur at the end of the file creation step, not in the resulting PDF file, and they involve launching the internet browser to visit one of several possible advertising sites. I find it very good and easy to install and use.
