Every time I log in to the Forum, I check the box saying "Log me on automatically each visit:".
It doesn't. The cookie's broke.

You may have some automatic process that deletes cookies, maybe something like Adaware, in which case you have to place the Statcounter cookies in the ignore list.
Also if you're using browsers other than IE the cookie handling is different.
While I stay persistently logged into the forum, I seem to require occasional signing in again to see my stats. It seems that particular cookie tends to expire or otherwise get deleted (or it hides in some other cookie folder) by some process yet unknown to me, every few days. It may be a wee problem with my OS and browser though. I'm due for a major cleanup job soon :?

Ahah!
You have just reminded me that I might have set the 'phpBB' cookie to 'Always Delete' in CookieWall (a free cookie management program - excellent, by the way).
And indeed I had. I have now set CookieWall to 'Always Accept' the cookie each time. That should sort the problem.
BTW, I never ever have a problem with the StatCounter auto logon - ever. So perhaps you're right about your need for a clean-up.
CookieWall - Download Here (http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/cookie.htm) - IE only. The brilliant thing about this is the ability to kick popup and other advert cookies off your system before they even get in - if you can put up with an 'alert box' coming up each time a new cookie is encountered, and it asking you what you want to do with it (see graphic screenshot below). Do try it! I'm not on commission!

Wow! Thanks. Will take a look at this thing one of these days.
I am using the Google Toolbar for pop-ups and that's quite ok and Spybot for nasties and that's ok too generally. Not using anything specifically geared at cookies except Adaware and that's just for what it considers adware. Every so often I clean up cookies manually and then curse since I'd have just lost all the good ones

At only 228kb, it's a real quick download, and as I recall a quickly configured prog also. Should not take more than 10 minutes of your valuable time (!) for a lifetime of control over the sneaky little things!
Enjoy.

P.S. Went away for ten minutes, then accessed Forum afresh.
I'm automatically logged in!
Thanks, chrisooc.
