You could try these. I have not used any of them.

A few years ago Dreamweaver version 1.2 was available as a free magazine onsert in the UK. Someone may still have a CD of this.

How many years is a few? I have an ancient Dreamweaver 4.0 and that shows copyright 1997-2000! How far back does 1.2 go?

Greetings Christina,

Errrr before '97 ? To be honest I don't remember.

I was just trying to give options! I could have said try ebay for some deals.

From what I remember it wasn't bad. I think that the move from V1.2 to V3 was quite quick.

I wouldn't know about the version progression in DW. I only started using it last year when a friend gave me his by then obsolete DW 4.

I have a trial version of Go Live! and it looks fierce, so I haven't tried it in fact

I'll admit to a little secret: I used MS Word 97 in my early html pages! Shhhh! That was after messing about with FrontPage Express which was really bad. Word was a step up from that. Then I dug straight into html for a while until I got DW 4 and now I use html in DW 4 and keep an eye on the design view window just to see what's going on. I like it because it's the only thing I have that can actually show a web view of the page while resolving any SSI I may have on it.

Greetings Christina,

Yoyr seceret is safe (you have only told a few thousand people). I use DW Ultra Dev. A little too complex so I only use a small amount of what it can do. I would recommend it but it is not one to start on and the cost would also stop people from using it.

I have a trial version of Codecharge Studio. It has totally confused me but it may be worth a look to you.

I use Cutesite builder - cost $69 but you can try it for free for 30 days
here is a link http://www.globalscape.com/downloads/cutesitebuilder.asp
it has a FTP built in, you can build your site/s and publish it as often as you like for 30 days.
Plenty of help sites and a forum to help you out if needed, but if you can use word then you can use this.

Is Netscape Composer any good. ?

Netscape Composer is the same as in Mozilla. At least it's better than Frontpage, use a lot of CSS and it's free. But there is also a stand alone WYSIWYG editor from Mozilla, called NVU (pronounced N-view, for a "new view"), aslo free. I belive NVU can give even cleaner markup than the Composer. Read more about NVU and download it from http://www.nvu.com/

The best WYSIWYG editor is XStandard from http://xstandard.com/
Makes clean markup and use only CSS for presentation, in doctype XHTML 1.0 Strict or 1.1 (the future standard for websites)
