View Full Version : Very Slow Load Times

Whenever I check my stats, I can get to the Summary page easily, however, the Recent Pageload Activity is very, very slow to load and sometimes I have had to give up on it. This has been a recent issue, like the last 2-3 weeks. Before that, everything was fine.

Is there any reason for this or is just me?

I also have the same problem. The entire statscouter site loads very quickly except for the detail pages like the recent page loads, Visitor Paths, Visit Length etc. This only happens with my projects with a large amount of hits, the projects with a few or no hits all load fine. I have reduced the number of results per page but I still have the same problem. This has been happening for a couple weeks now, I have researched heavily all possibilities on my end including trying other physical machines to view the pages from, other machines in different physical locations outside of my network, tried a trace route to check for slow running hops and have found nothing wrong. All other activity we do online functions normally (which is a lotta lotta stuff!) I have been scanning the forums for a week or so and didn’t find anyone else with the problem until now. I spoke to support once or twice but they could only suggest steps that I have already taken to eliminate any and every possibility.

Again this is only on my projects that have 50 to 300 page loads a day, all others work fine. At times when I click on the recent page loads etc, it takes a few seconds to load (which is considered normal),sometimes it loads lightning quick, sometimes it hangs for 30 seconds and then loads, sometimes it hangs and never loads. But it’s increasingly starting to hang and never load more and more.

I could try resetting the stats and maybe keeping them reset but I really don’t want to do that. I love this site and the service. Its sooooo worth the money but I have to figure out what the problem is and I’m pretty sure its not affecting a lot of people so I may be SOL.

If anyone has any ideas out of the realm of 1st level support or any of the obvious things please let me know.. Thanks

I'd look at your security and privacy settings. Are you using soemthing like Spybot? At time it could be simply because of the advertising appearing at the top of the admin pages (from Tribalfusion). Some of the ads they run may be blocked by your privacy settings or by Spybot, so in fact the page stops laoding. Sometimes try a refresh of the page which usually changes the ad appearing - maybe then you don't run innto an ad that blocks everyhting.

Ummm chrisooc,

If it were as simple as a page refresh, spybot or ads I would not be seeking help.

I’m kinda surprised that you even said that after all the details that I left in my first post....

But just to eliminate that entire possibility.. I’m a paid subscriber and I have the ads turned off.

This did not start until I upgraded and my logs started to get BIGGER, the BIGGER they get the slower those detail pages load... I’m pretty sure its not coincidence after spending now weeks of my time and the time of other network professionals that I work with on this issue. We have come to one conclusion, that the problem is at the other end of the wire. Now we need to know why, and is it fixable

Tweaks, I suggested things you didn't mention as such, as other possibilities. If they don't work, so be it. So the problem is elsewhere.

I do know that at times I cannot even get into Yahoo or if I'm in, I cannot change pages because of blocks from Spybot or who knows what other little gremlin (nothing's come out on any virus scans). I refresh the page a few times and it works. Perhaps I have some other bug in my IE settings, I've been trying to find them. I had bigger problems than that lately after installing Spywareblaster. I got rid of it and things started again to behave better, but not perfect. Actually I'm quite sure it's some weird settings I ended up getting with all this adjustement of security and privacy. A brand new computer I was setting up last week didn't give me the same headaches. Same setup generally, except I hadn't installed all the anti-spyware stuff on it yet, only basic pop-up killer and an anti-virus. I had no problem surfing anywhere and everywhere. I must be paying the price for using Spybot and other stuff. I'd rather that than a ton of spyware, I dare say. Matter of finding the right tweaks (pun intended  ).

Yes chrisooc I know what you mean,

I have actually been where you are right now with the spyware situation. I have gotten really good at spotting spyware even without any spyware programs like spybot etc. I can open my task manager and catch any processes that shouldn’t be there and it’s tricky but you eventually learn. Some spyware are pretty clever by hiding themselves as other rundll32.exe`s and if that’s the case its pretty difficult to get rid of them, and im not aware of any spyware removers that will eradicated something like that. Anyway with the way almost all spyware will effect your system performance as soon as your infected with it, even as subtle as it is sometimes I pick it right up and then being investigating what’s causing it. And im responsible for monitoring a whole bunch of machines, most Win XP Pro`s, some NT and some Win 2000 for these and other problems so I have gotten quite good at it...

Anyway thanks for the reply, good luck with the whole spyware venture!
