Hello,
When I login via the login form found at the upper left side of the home page of statcounter - I enable "remember me" and log in.
On the next visit (if I used "logout" or not), I am asked for the username and password again.
I'm not using any cookie manager, and didn't have any cookie issue for as long as I can remember.
Am I doing something wrong here?
Thanks.

Not sure about this. I've had this problem on and off myself and have been attributing it to all the anti-spyware programs and settings I may be using. I've orgnaized these better now and the problem is less frequent. But I still experience having to re-log in every few days. Last week I had a period of time when every time I came to the forum I had to log in.
Try to delete all your cookies and files (and off-line pages). Then log in again. It may help. It seems to have helped me.

Nice to know I'm not alone on this.
Deleting ALL of my cookies is a BIT radical solution.
I tried deleting the statcounter cookies, but it didn't help.
Same problem.

I have a similar problem. Back before I started using firefox, I used IE and would log in and then say a half hour or an hour later I could just hit refresh on the same browser window, and it would be fine. But now with Firefox, it's good for about 20 minutes or so, if I refresh it reloads the page data, but if I come back say 40 minutes later, I need to log in again. And I looked at the my statcounter cookies and they don't expire until 2010 or something, so I wouldn't think there would be a problem. Other sites I can stay logged in for much longer periods... Any ideas?

Your browser must be dumping cookies without your knowledge, maybe something with your securities settings. Are you deeting cookies perhaps whenever you close the browser?
I never get dropped from this forum unless I sign out or specifically delete cookies. of course when I signed in I did request to be remembered. I do get dropped from the admin page of my SC account about every second day or so, and that must be a cookie that expires somehow.

To get this behavior I don't even close the browser window. I leave it open and I can refresh and navigate for about 20 minutes, but then after about 20 minutes I suddenly have to log back in again. I know I'm not losing the cookies because I can view them via the browser options, even after I am somehow logged out. I also know I'm not losing cookies because other sites that set cookies have the appropriate settings preserved.

Disregard my last post. I think I found out what was happening. Sometimes I was logging in and actually forgetting to check the 'remember me' box, if you can believe that. Even without checking it SC must still set a temporary cookie but with a shorter session. I had thought I was checking it, but I guess I was forgetting every now and then, hence the strange behavior and 'short sessions'. We'll see if I can remember to check it now... hehehe

You must have some firewall or security settings actually preventing cookies from Statcounter, there aren't any other logical explanations.
Whatever Statcounter cookeis you are seeing are probably old and no longer the cookies that Statcounter sets and uses now.

1. I change the cookies setting in IE to be "accept all cookies".
2. Closed the browser.
3. In the internet options deleted the cache and ALL THE COOKIES.
4. Opened the borwser, went to the site, entered my details and checked "remember me". logged in.
5. Logged out.
6. verified that a cookie from the site has been created.
7. went to the sites again (both www.statcounter.com and my.statcounter.com) and I was forced to do the login again.
Looks like the server's side to me.

Err... maybe the server's taken a fancy to dump you in particular LOL!

If you explicitly click "Log Out", it will not remember you. Even if it shows that a cookie is there, it most likely has terminated your session. However, if you close the browser without logging out, you should be able to return without logging in. That is how it functioned for me with IE. Once you click "Log Out" all bets are off.

Thanks Russ!
Now it is working.
Some remarks, though...:
1. You must use my.statcounter.com/project to do a direct login.
Using www.statcounter.com or my.statcounter.com will show you the authentication form.
2. The fact that doing a "logout" is like partially disabling your cookie functionality is not so good.
I am using many sites that "remember me" works fine even when you do a "logout" at the end of a session.
I think you should emphasis the first note and the need NOT to push "logout" - beside the basic "remember me" check box - so users will understand the conditions that must be fulfilled for the "remember me" to work.
Again, thank you for the exact and fast help.
Cheers,
Eitan

LOL! So you're logging out and expect to stay logged in?
Sites that operate properly will respect your wishes to be logged out and will delete the cookie. That is why you wish to be logged out. Maybe you're using a public computer, you don't want the next guy using it an dgoign through the history to get into your account or any forum under you identity.
Sometimes what appears as the login form actually shows that you're logged in if in fact you are. Just look at the user id apeearing there. No need to log in, just click on your user id.
