I have a movie script that I am going to write, but I am hung up on one MAJOR thing, the script is going to revolve around one major event!
Here is my question to you:
You have the chance to look an 15 seconds of anytime in the world but it must be outside and can be at any time period of the PAST. Once agian you can see 15 seconds of ANY time period, what would it be and why? If I like your idea I will credit you.

heh you want my idea of 'Time Reading' or a machine that does just that "Reads Time' . Inside, Outside, Future or Past....
but I would want more than a credit for it ---spys 'Budget - 1.2mil' ......
;)
p.s. I'm being serious as well!

It may sound trite but if I could witness just 15 seconds of one point in history it would be The Ascension of Jesus. Did he just sort of become lighter than air supernaturally and defy gravity to rise into white fluffy and empty clouds?
Or was he transported by some high-tech device into a waiting spaceship?
As scripture tells it, this event was witnessed by many people. And when he could be seen no more, it's told that angelic beings questioned the onlookers as to why they continued to look in shock. They, the angels,(messengers) said he would return the same way they saw him leave.
Why this event? Obvious isn't it? I believe it would settle a very big and important question for me. How about you?

Thanks the idea DSL guy but I would like to keep out the whole "god" thing because I would like to keep out religion for numerous reasons, but I do like the idea.

I just had to log back on to answer this.
DSL Guy is on the mark. There is no more important time in history of the world than the piece of history that has guided the world for the last 2,000 years and still guides us today. 3 religions have Jesus as either the focal point in their religions, or a focal point in the history of their religion.. Christians, Jews and Muslims. In the last hundred years all major wars have been fought with those 3 faiths in the forefront… and it continues today with the chance of impending world doom as a result of those 3 faiths being unable to live together.
I am not a religious person, but it is still necessary to be able to see those 15 seconds of Jesus to see if:
1) the was an ascension
2) Who removed/hid his body
3) If he died at all
The reasons for this is that the world may have been living a lie (or denying the truth) for the last 2,000 years. It wont change the past, or the future, but it would be nice to know. It would be nice to know why millions have died at the command of the cross or prophet.
If 15 seconds can change the world, then I don’t think its possible to not include those 15 seconds. I understand you don’t want to have religion in your film, but the question may be a tad too powerful to a point where if you don’t attend to it, then the question itself can’t work.
It’s a great survey question. I sit with baited breath at others suggestions.

I don't see this as about God or Religion. This is about what our world would look like today if this event was more verifiable than a couple of sentences in a book.
Remember fellow statcounters-
Let us here at this forum not get wrapped up in the faith implications of this suggestion. Let's not argue about the truth or falseness of the event. This is not the forum for it. Keep your objectivity about you, please.
You're the script writer movieprodw. It's your choice. Your reply reminds me of what Mel Gibson must have heard endlessly while trying to produce "The Passion". We all know where that film went. Huge hit in the states without a single english word used except in subtitles. It is still controversial and still talked about in circles not religious at all. I work in a food processing plant full-time with mostly ex-felons, and during a lunch break the other day "The Passion" was the discussion topic. Not for religious reasons but for content.
Anyway you asked for suggestions and this one was what I thought was most important in my life.
Happy story hunting. :)
PS - No need for credit or dollars. This is public domain stuff.

Hello MovieMaker,
Since we are sort of brain storming . . .
Personally, I would like to see 15 minutes of that exact time before I got flashed out of my mother's womb . . .
How was it like for me? How did I feel? Was I really afraid? Was I gasping for my first or was it really for my last breath of life? Did I really NOT know what was happening? Did I really want to leave that warm but secure, dark but familiar world of the womb? Did I have any premonition of life other than the womb? Did I think I was dying and going through the tunnel of light to the "after-womb?" Was I actually already a cognitive presence inside a limited hepless mass?
Is birth a dress rehearsal of the journey from death to afterlife? If so, does earth life run parallel to life in the womb . . . and "birth", a parallel to life(man's) after death?
Science may have the textbook answers but I still would like to see a "dramatized" story that depicts the feelings and sensations and emotional state (if any at all) of a fetus during that 15 minute-transitional journey from womb to world.
I do not know if anyone else beside myself would want that journey from the perspective of a cognitive presence inside a fetal form shown in the movie theaters, OR if such an idea is a plausible material for a movie at all, BUT oh well, you asked . . .
My two cents. (I've always wanted to contribute to a movie script - I guess my wish has been granted . . . No matter that it does not get to the box!)

Keep them coming, this is more successful than I imagined and you all have great ideas. DSL guy, i was not saying that I did not like your idea i loved it but i have so little knowledge of religion that I would not want to change peoples faith on a guess of what did happen. If you can tell me how you would describe it and tell me that side of the story I would defiantly compensate you for your information/incite. You can email me directly to scripts@wasteknotpictures.com . I love the baby one to that would be great to make kids more at ease if they where dieing "making them believe that there is an afterlife".
Thanks Guys keep it up

The 15 seconds from the moment of impact of the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs... not from too close ;)
Ummmm the look on my face when I met my first girlfriend.
As China Tea noted its different if its a personal perspective or world history.
The look on my mothers face when she first saw me. "Ahhhhh take him AWAY!!!"

trackerm,
i was laughing out loud about what you said about your mommy screaming in disbelief when you came in!
i don't think there is a mommy in the world who would react that way . . . (of course there are . . .) Still, I'm sure your mommy said something like "oh, what a cute little beautiful baby(kutsey, kutsie, toooot) and one day he will be great and handsome and rich!
you are soooo cute!
and mr. hollywood, how about casting all the forum members in your movie? like . . . "the planet of the once-_____?" Just kidding.

what altruistic do you mean?
1. Unselfish concern for the welfare of others; selflessness.
2. Zoology. Instinctive cooperative behavior that is detrimental to the individual but contributes to the survival of the species.

Peg-as-is or any one,
What is a roo, lynch and cap in relation to mob?
English is my second language and while I may know the literal meaning of lynch and cap (isn't roo a short for kangaroo?), I really do not understand them when attached to "mob".
Thank you. (And sorry to ask...just trying to understand the thread)

Right then 15 seconds of history and the clock is running - -
Quantum physics tells us that a partical can be a wave and a wave a particlal, distinctly or combined , ( dont ask! just accept it, its like statistics )
So 2 partical/waves meet and one says , yo dude whats up , and the other says , whooo man check this out , clicks his fingers and BANG ( big type)
The rest is history

Mob = reasonably large number
as in: “how many roo’s in the top paddock?” (roos = kagaroos)
1 = one (we can count!)
2-3 = a few
3-6ish = a couple
6 – a fair few = a mob
a fair few – a few more = a big mob
more than that = a bloody big mob
Simple!
Top paddock = your brain. For example: “Mate, you’ve got a few roos lose in ya top paddock!” Translation: “Your cognitive powers are lacking”

So what do you think that the roos would choose? the day that they first took a step on two feet?

Funny how some things like wavicles we're supposed to accept with no question and "It's not religion" and "doesn't involve faith".
You might say "but the results prove it". Have you seen someone's life change because they accepted the Christ into their heart? I have. Would that result then be a proof of Christ?

Good Day Matt,
I've thought long and hard about this question since you first posted it.
Here's my second choice: I wish to see the 15 seconds just before the very first bird/insect learned to fly. I've always wondered what the environment must have been like to enable birds to fly. Was it extremely windy? Maybe there was very little land so they needed to learn to fly for survival reasons. Was it cold? What would warrant them to develop feathers? What would cause wings for some species and no wings for another? Or feathers for one species and no feathers for another? You could probably come up with a few questions about bird development yourself.
Well, here you go Matt. My second 2cents worth.
