Does anyone else use Web Easy Professional 5 (V-Com) for their website?
If so, is there a feature on it that you can use to block right-clickers from using/copying my images? I've looked........but I can't find anything as yet.

Cheers!

You can't stop anybody to look at your code and copying anything from your site, if that's what they want. No matter what methods you use. If you are afraid somebody will do that, don't have them on the site is the only way.

Yeah. If right clicking is blocked, then they can just highlight and copy using Control-C and then past onto i.e. Word. I suggest you just put some copyright text on your images. For example: (Hope it not too big)

Right clicking is no problem either, even if there is some silly script that is supposed to prevent that. I override the blocking all the time on pages, e.g. if I'm interested in the code they us and to see how "heavy" their images is :-)

For images is a good idea to do as you suggest, in some cases (e.g. painting and photos you sell). But if the images is there to give info and higher quality to the page, it's not really a good idea :)

Of course not, if they are web graphics. But for photos, copyright text is the best protection.

I do have some text over my image (see website homepage). I just wondered if there was a way round it for the software I'm using as I think it makes the image look slightly messy.
Nevermind, thanks for your comments.

Yes, that kind of text over picture is not so funny to use. But I don't find it useful and worthy to do that on that picture. You don't sell the picture of programmes, you are selling the programmes that the picture shows. That's a different thing. :)

But if you like to use text over e.g. a photo, you should do i in way that reminds of a watermark. You can even register for a real watermark ID that makes it possible to track photos as yours.

About the text in my photo, it was just a sample. I usually don't put any on, but I felt like giving it a try. Small text can easily be removed in photoshop, so that's beside the point. A watermark would be better, and harder to remove.

So basically, its distracting text in the center or a watermark if you want ot protect pictures.

There is a javascript no right click. I won't bore you with the details as, what has been said before about using menus, means this does not work.

I agree that the best method to keep them to youself is to watermark them. If you are selling them and depending on how you set your site up & the code you use you can use a low res thumbnail. When people click to show a better view open this up in a called pop up window (fixed size). Place a transparent layer over the top of pics in the window so people downloading get a clear image only.

BTW, I do not like pop ups but I think they are OK to show a better image and ONLY when called by a click (Viewers choice).

the combo of javascript no-click, opeing pictures in pop-up windows on demand, with no toolbar or menu, , disabling the toolbar that usually allows saving a picture and hotlink protection by .htaccess will work to prevent all but the most tenacious thieves.

I personally figure if they've gone through all those hurdles, they might even deserve to get that pic

Add the watermark, and you're set.

If its for your website where you are selling the images, or the originals, then I think its fine to have the big bold words right across the photos (like Mo has done).
The reason for this is that people buying your photos will know that no one else gets a copy, or even a watermarked copy. Cheaters have to deal with the big, bold writing across the best part.

It makes it all a bit more exciting when you pay your money, you receive something even better than shown.

Thems my thoughtys

Yeah, I agree. When a visitor comes to a page to look at photos for sale, (s)he don't mind the big bold (not necessery black ) text. If they are there to make an order, they know the text is not on the photos they get :)

So, how do I go about registering for a watermark ID? Where from and are there any costs involved?

Hi 4foxsake,

Like the name BTW.

You don't need to watermark just apply text to the pics to make them unusable.

I just looked at my Paint shop pro and it has a watermark feature that you need to register (at a seperate company) for. The link does not work.

Try here. I haven't tried it. Click the download.

Hi 4foxsake,

A typical saying, being a Leicester City fan, when 3 points don't go our way, which is getting more frequent!

Thanks for the link. After pondering for a while I will stick with just adding the text across any images. Easy and straight forward to do.
