View Full Version : New Year's Resolutions

We all make them and usually break them, don't we?
Mine are more like fuzzy notions of I ought to do this or that.
So here they are in the order I think they are possible to achieve or at least less likely to be totally broken:
1. Get better organized. Loosing too many things in the big mess surrounding me. Forgetting where I've put things, in a rush to shove them away to be dealt with later.
2. Deal with things as soon as possible, not leave them for later. I used to do that but I've become too scattered.
3. Get in shape. Yep, this too I used to be but then I discovered the net and the forums ....
4. Stop or at least reduce smoking. Very, hard, most likely to fail at this.
Happy New Year to everybody and may all your wishes (or is it resolutions?) come true! :D

Here are mine,
1) Post my photo on the Statcounter forum (done)
2) Go to bed before 4 am most mornings
3) Smoke more ciggies. Sometimes 20 a day just isn't enough
4) Drink more beer.
5) Teach myself a few new skills
6) Survive the year
7) Review my resolutions at the end of the year and make next years more realistic

Mine are always almost impossible (for me to keep).
1. Finish a book I started three months ago.
2. Have a life beyond shopdrops.com, statforum and work.
3. Have some physical fitness routine for health reasons.
4. Not to procrastinate.
5. Learn how to cook meals other than Filipino dishes.
6. Lessen eating icecream - I eat a bowl of ice cream everynight!
7. Stop trying reducing my ciggies. (This is easy)
8. Stop shopping form things that I do not really need. (Not so easy)
9. Try to read Proteus' s Yahoo e-commerce manual. (Not so easy)
10. Try to understand weblish. (Not so easy)
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! ----- MANIGONG BAGONG TAON SA INYONG LAHAT! :D

Happy New Year. Thoughts to those in Aisa, and those better than us all by helping with work with aid agencies and Governments of the world in this time of crisis.
Mark
Mine is a serious one and takes many guises. It is more like a dozen resolutions all rolled into one and best summed up as trying to be a better person next year than I was last year.
I second Marks comments regarding the devastation in Asia.
Happy New Year to you all.

The recent events does make people refelect on how insignificant (and fragile) life really is. There is a lot more to it than most of us think about on an average day.
Trying to keep a little upbeat. A happy new year to you all (maybe too late for Mark). I was thinking earlier. If GMT is zero surly there can only be GMT + up to 24 hours so rather than be ahead of GMT you would have to be behind it. Lets face it if you had a minus GMT you would be gettting younger, right???
For those really bored there is a plaque in Greenwich (South East suburb of London) you can place one leg either side of it and have half your body in one time zone and the other half in another. Oh yes, the Cutty Sark ship is kept there also.
As for the resolutions. You can see my picture. I am only 21 you know so it shows what ciggies, beer and staying up till the early hours does for you.

I am very gullible I admit but not that gullible to believe that you are that man in the picture hammering his life away!!!
I would believe that picture if the young man had ciggies with him.

Hi China Tea,
I have my pipe on in the picture.
Ah, I understand. You thought I was young and attractive. Now you have seen my picture you are not sure about my advice and comments.
A lot of people say I have a face for radio. My body could do with an Iron as well. It won't get all the creases out.
I got one of those electric stairlifts and a step in bath for christmas from my great, great, great grandkids.
I have said this before. Would I lie to you

Are we playing again?
So you wrote:

Yes, I thought you were attractive because you sounded mature and wise and "sophisticated". . . Now, I'm not sure anymore, because you say you are 21 . . . and therefore, prefer older women. . . So where will that leave me? I have always liked older men . . . That's why I am very drawn to John . . .
Hmmm, do I sound bad and evil? Will Christina wash my mouth and stop us in this so very Hallmark moment? (that she loves to stop??)

21??? Sorry that was a typo. Should have been 121 (see the picture). I am on 20 ****ra a day (So thats 20 ciggies, 20 beers and 20 ****ra) Makes it hard to use the laptop (sorry).
I brought some of that ****ra cream but couldn't get my gloves on for a week. I went to the doctors the other day. I said "doc. I have noticed that I am losing my sex drive" He said "when did you notice this". I said "Three times last night and twice this morning".
mature and wise and "sophisticated"??? Just an average guy with a bad sense of humour. I don't want John after me anyway.

BTW. Just had my first botox injections before I went out for new years.... I don't know how long they will last  .
What do you think about the before and after?

Just looking forward to my pipe and slippers now. People in my local said I looked familiar, like a film star, but I don't think I look anything like Rudulph Valentino! And I'm in colour
Am I really too young for China Tea???

You are just so right for me . . . and yes, you are looking like a movie actor . . . like a young Brad Pitt!
It's now almost 30 minutes before 2005 here California. We really are younger here, huh... but never too young for a motorwatcher who looks like Brad Pitt!!!!
Happy New year to everyone. Happy new year Sir John, Lady Chris, Master Proteus, Trackerm, Arne, Shan, DSL Guy, Sonic Paul, Master Krevtek, Nomad, to all statforum members and to statcounter!
Let us all continue to be good to each other this year!!! China Tea wuvs you all.

Love the sentiment but, I fear, I have shoes older than you.
Don't forget you have a picture of yourself on your site. 70 years ago, before my hip replacement, my pace maker and having my teeth sent out to be cleaned you would have been great.
This doesn't apply to you but it always worries me that women want to know me because of my knighthood (Sir Motorwatcher), the castle I live in, my 5 other homes around the world and my vast fortune. Sigh. I saw through the last forty 18 year olds. Well after a while, anyway.

LOL ... ROFL .... you guys.
I had guests staying over for New Year and couldn't get online. I am so sorry I missed all this jollity, teasing and flirting ... especially the flirting :D ... but I've just had a fantastic fun filled five minutes reading this thread. I just wish I could have been a part of it. :)
I have always liked older men . . . That's why I am very drawn to John . . .
Hey you ... are you suggesting I'm old?
I don't want John after me anyway. What do you think, Walking Sticks at 20 paces (if we could manage 20 paces :) ). Maybe a wheelchair race .... or a Memory Test (see whose first to forget whatever it is we're trying to remember). What about a Balancing Challenge ... see who can avoid falling over the longest. Oh, I know ... a combination memory and mental agility challenge ... we both use our wit and natural charm to sweep China Tea of her feet, and the victor then tries to remember what he's supposed to do next. :D
I hope 2005 brings you peace and happiness
Happy New Year

Sounds like too much work to me. I get out of breath reading the paper.
I only managed 10 ciggies today. Thats one resolution shot already.
Just getting my hot water bottle and cup of cocco ready before I go to bed. I have my sleeping hat and socks on already.
