I know I've already had one heck of a lot of help from you guys, but can I ask another favour?

I want to try and make the navigation of my site as good as I can. I'm not too unhappy with it, but it does rely heavily on using the Back button in the browser. I can find my way around quite well 'cause I know where everything is :) , but I would really like to know what it's like for my visitors.

Any and all comments will be very gratefully received.

Hi John.

I don't think it is too bad. There are a couple of places where the menu disapears but in the main the top menu works well.

John, on some pages the menu is not centered, like for ponderables and even the main page.

On some pages the menu isn't there, like on some of your deeper linked pages. If you put it there, navigation will be easier of course.

just make sure when you construct a page to include a 'Home' link then you know your visitors allways have a way back to your main page. For deeper linked pages going to spurious linked pages include a 'Back To Menu' link.

that will sort any nav problems you have. I allways without fail include a home link at least, unless I know they can get back to home without it and without having to rely on browser back button..

hope that helps :)

The only times u need the back button (I never use it) is in the gallaries. So I'd go with Nomad on that.

When will IE bring out a multi tabbed browser?

It makes the whole experience different. I use Maxthon (which uses IE's engine) and can click as many paintings / menu items as I like while still keeping the original page open. It makes navigation so so so much easier.

It looks good john :)

Thank you all. That's much more positive than I'd expected. I'll put a menu and banner onto my gallery pages, a 'Back to Menu' link on some of my deeper pages, tidy up a couple of misalignments that I hadn't noticed and sign it off as 'job done' .... for now :D

Hello John,

I used your 2nd instruction (pasted the logo code which comes from your web page - - - thank you) and I should think that this time it should work. :o

Please let me know if it did.

I think my first try did not work because I pasted the code not on my profile (I am so d**b) but on my post instead! Do you think that is the reason for it not working the first time?

I would like to try using the code I stored in my MSN Web Documents and this time post the code in my profile's signature field BUT I am scared to do it again least trackerm will really get nuts  (just kidding trackerm). . .

Anyway, my logo is up (thanks to you) and I now belong  .

Isn't my logo being stored in your site a hassle though? Shouldn't I be paying you storage rent or something?

Love,

China Tea

Yep ... that's working fine now.

No. I think it's something to do with the way the image is being stored but I don't know enough about your Yahoo site to be able to advise you.

You're image is fine on my site ... no problem. However, I can understand that you would want to have it within your own space and in the long term that is what you should aim at. I'm sure there must be a way of storing an image file in your Yahoo web space, I just don't know what it is.

The only thing I can think of doing is putting the new image on your site somewhere, and then looking at the source to see where Yahoo is storing it. It's a bit "belt and braces", but it's all I can think of. Maybe someone else can advise us.

There must be a way to use FTP to sign into the Yahoo web space, at the root level, where the index file is residing.

The create a folder for other images, uplaod this one there, and that's it.

I know, it's not comprehensible if you've never done it before.

On the other hand, maybe Yahoo has a control panel of sort with a file manager where you can easily upload the image file (let's call it shopdrops.gif) to an existing folder or create a new one, say ctimages, and put it there.

The path to it would then be http://www.shopdrops.com/ctimages/shopdrops.gif .

I posted my thoughts on China Tea's sig gif in another thread. I did mention something about an admirer though

Seeing that see has that sexy (sorry John  ) picture of herself on the site uploading must be OK. I too would imagine that is is via a control panel.

Motorwatcher,

I read that other thread too . . . you know, about an admirer. Are you jealous? I hope so . . .

To all . . .

Isn't that a beauty really? Thanks to John, my friend John . . . and now I owe him for the storage rent too. I wil try to understand how to use my Yahoo space for that purpose, this weekend.

Thank you all for walking me through. . .

Wuv you, wuv you, wuv you!!!
