View Full Version : Question for regular users of Statcounter

I have noticed something odd - but it may just be coincidence. On many of the sites that I have statcounter on (invisible version), with the latest PR update, all those sites lost pagerank, in some cases dramatically. With other sites that I'm using other trackers on, the PR has stayed the same.

My question, for those who have been using statcounter for a while, have you noticed a PR drop with the latest update? Beyond that - are you ranking well in the se's or has that rank been affected?

Again, my situation could just be and likely is a coincidence. I'm just curious of others experience.

One other general question - I notice in the code, any code generated for statcounter, that it seems there is a random alt text created saying stuff like - hit counter, or whatever. But when you (with the visible code version) put your mouse on the image the code generates on your website it says statcounter - free web tracker and counter. Why are there two different alt codes - one in the code and one that shows on the image when you put the mouse on it? On all the other trackers I've used the alt text in the code is the alt code that shows on the tracker image on the site.

Thanks

Well, Google has recently reindexed every site according to new rules, and it seems almost everybody has lost a notch of PR. Not related to Statcounter at all.

The alt tag you see in the code is for the html version of the code, or the one used for non-javascript enabled browsers. That text is randomly generated when you generate the code and install it. The text you see when you hover over the image comes from the javscript portion of the counter code and that's fixed, non-random.

Anyone know of any high ranking sites that use the invisible statcounter?
