Hi all,

I've had a couple of stats showing visitors landing on my home page and staying 0 seconds.

Now, I understand that the stats willl always show 0 seconds unless a second page is visited.

However, the referring link in both cases is a google search for mydomain + com.

I am just curious to know if these might be automated google searches (is there such a thing?), and how the searching robots would know to search for my site.

I have still not submitted my site to any search engines and it does not show up in searches other than its URL (and only when a search is done for mydomain +com).

The visitors are identified as Genuity Dsl in the US and The National Library of Canada!

Thanks for any ideas...

I wouldn't worry about it. Users do odd things with search engines. There isn't much reason to seach for "domain + com", when it's faster to just type the search term into the address bar, but people do it anyway. Google's toolbar can be configured to automatically go to the page if the user types in "domain + ...". There are other possibilities, but that might be what you're seeing here.

Google discourages automated searches unless they're done through a program ("Google API") supplied to developers by the company.

Thanks Robinev,

I'm just really curious....!

I thought it might be a machine, since I figured anyone specifically looking for my site would (at least I imagine) click on a more than one page if they found it.

Mine is a personal site, not a commercial one, and my domain is my last name (not a very common one)...

But as you say, who knows!
