Recently I had a strange page listed in my 'Resent Page Load Activity'. It wasn't any page I have listed on my site. It was like this:
/A:/Web%20Site%20Name.htm
Would this mean that someone copied a page of my site on to there floppy drive and loaded it while connected to the internet?
This is the best free thing on the internet by the way :) Thanks for an awesome service.

Yup. That's the most likely cause.

They need not even have copied your page. Just made some other web page using your counter code and executed it off the diskette.

Hey -- paanoid Gregse her :)
Just noticed this thread.
Is this something to do with a login left open and someone then picks up on the cookie.
OR/
is it someone down loaded the source of the page , used it with the script code still on the page --- (silly people for not checking page code first )
Keep well

LOL! You're paranoid OK.
No, it's nothing to do with what you are saying.
Copying a web page is usually no big deal, from browser File > save as or from View > Source code and copy the entire page code or right-click and view source code.
All I or anybody have to do to record hits on your counter is copy the counter code which is plainly visible on your web page and put in a bit of html code on a web page of my own.
I don't have to upload that web page to the web anyway, I cna just view it in my browser right from my pc, and if I am connected to the inetrner, it will simply log a hit to your counter as teh code is executed. That's all.
Not weird, not alarming, nothing at all. Normal web behaviour. Maybe annoying, but nothing that can be done to prevent this as long as teh code is visible in teh source,. And it will be unless it's written in PHP entirely on the same server as the web page and included in the web page (which has to be set to allow included php). But since it's a third party script, it cannot be incldued (php rules do not allow this across servers), it can only be used through javascript or an image construct. Thus it is fully visible code.

Hi chrisooc,
Hey - I get my therapy from "sessions" -- sorry, forums like this :)
That was a really good explanation thanks. Silly billies for not looking at the source tho :) well, a hit is a hit.
I didnt realise tho that the code would execute tho its obvious isnt it.
Thanks, I'll take the medication now. :)
