I have a new notebook- Xp sp2 running spy bot and spyware blaster. I have the same configuration on my desktop and I can see www.statcounter.com fine. However the notebook cannot. If I go to my.statcounter.com I can see some of the site but all the graphics are missing along with the logon screen so that I can't view my project

Ideas?

Tony

Blocking images? Try Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Show Pictures

Or else it's a worse problem of privacy & security which is a beast to find

You're blocking the site somehow. Look everywhere - hosts file, restricted sites, Spybot list of blocked sites.

Also check the firewall.

Thanks for your help. It was indeed an entry in the hosts file- damned if I know how it got there

I think it's something like Spybot that sneaks sites into that hosts file. Not sure, but among the various settings you can tweak, I seem to recall one of them that may be the triggerhapppy one.

Just ran spybot now - it didn't add that entry to the hosts file.
