New Customizable Summary Stats

StatCounter is pleased to announce the arrival of new and improved Summary Stats aimed at delivering a high level of customization and control to allow you to view your Summary Stats exactly as you want them. These stats now incorporate a number of new features:

http://www.statcounter.com/images/news/new_summary_stats.jpg

Level of Detail: View your summary stats by day, week, month, quarter or year! This feature allows you to examine and make comparisons with your sites' traffic at many different levels, extracting information on short-term and long-term trends.

Period or Date Range: Select from a preset number of periods, which vary depending on your level of detail, or enter in a specific range of dates – the choice is yours to give you a fine level of control over the timespan you wish to view.

Data: Choose to view (or not view) page loads, unique visitors or returning visitors.

Graph Type: We now let you choose which type of graph you want to illustrate your data – bar graph, area graph, or no graph for lower bandwidth users.

Custom Settings: To take control of this wide range of options, you can “save” your favourite settings – just tick the “Save as Default” box before submitting, and now every time you log in, your favourite summary stat settings will automatically load. The default settings show a Daily level of detail, set the period to the Last 7 Days, and show page loads, unique visitors and returning visitors with a bar graph – but you can change this to suit your tastes!

We hope you enjoy these new Summary Stats – let us know what you think in the forum or by email.

In other news, we have just upgraded our load balancing system for viewing stats and you should now experience better responsiveness and performance from the site. As always, your counters load as instantly as ever, but you now should also see better performance while checking your stats.

We are continuing our work on the Advanced StatCounter Project and we'll have a beta version out for testing purposes for all upgraded members in August 2005. Stay tuned for this exciting update.

Finally, we'd like to welcome Peter to the team, who'll be working on future site development!

That's all for now. Many thanks for your continued support!

It was easier to see the peaks and valleys with the old system. I guess I will get used to the bar graphs.

Thanks for feedback!

You can have the graphs exactly as they were previously by selecting the Area Graph option. (The stats as they were previously are the exact equivalent of a Daily level of detail, with a period of the last 30 days using the Area Graph option).

Hope this helps :)

I have been using this counter for quite a long time and really 100% satisfied with the service. Thanks for all that you are doing to improve the site regularly. And the new bar option is excellent. Hope to be with you as long as you have this service.
Thnx a lot.

Hi All,

I like it but it seems it doesn't store v well the "default" settings... could it be set once for all projects instead of changing every single one?

otherwise, excellent work!! I recommend you quite often

Awesome job! More flexibility for the summary stats is a good thing! I also like that the graphs are selectable, too. (Now if we could just get a pie chart option for some of the other stats again...)

Excellent - there is simply no better stats programme on the web - free or paid for.
I will use mainly the monthly stats and the one thing I would love to see is, where you "Select Date" the option added for "Last 13 months". Then anyone who uses the figures for longer term results can quickly see how current figures compare to the same time last year.
Keep up the good work - you're brilliant :D
Alan.

Later: Also, perhaps an option to remove the figures from the graphs?

Definitely like the bar graph addition to the summary stats. It is very easy on eyes to trace the peaks down to the dates. Great job!
Thanks for all your efforts.

I have been using the free stats counter for over 2 years and find it excellent. I must commend you people on your great efforts. I also must say that because you have the ability to use a invisible counter I have been able to trace some unwanted post to my website and notified their ISP for abuse. Keep up the good work gents. :D :D :D

As a very new merchant/site designer, I am just starting out (about 3 months), so my traffic level is minimal compared to most everyone else here. My site isn't even finished yet, but I can't imagine trying to build my site traffic without this invaluable tool. Thank you soooooo much for being here and offering such an awesome service - for free no less.

Big thumbs up to the new graph options.

As per my comments elsewhere, I liked the accessibility of the old graph by itself (just calling the image generator with the correct params). This allowed us to provide clients with a graph snapshot on their web site.

You continue to be the best - it's all there at my fingertips..............and for a non-profit website the price is reasonable.............

I like it but I wish I could see the company's name when I click on Visitor Paths.

For example: m061121.ppp.asahi-net.or.jp (Asahi Net) ....it would be nice to see who is m061121.ppp.asahi-net.or.jp

IMO
m061121.ppp.asahi-net.or.jp is the Host Name but that info is not really to helpful.

(Asahi Net) is the ISP but its not helpful either. I need to know what company is viewing my site, so I can determine do I need to send them some advertising or additional info to jumpstart a sale.

m061121.ppp.asahi-net.or.jp is the "name" for the computer used for visiting your site, given by the ISP. It can be a company or single home user and only their ISP knows who they are (the companys or persons name and address) as they are costumers to the ISP. It's impossible for others to know and I guess all ISP refuses to give out the names.

Very nice! great job!

It would be even nicer if you could implement a feature to let us show the unique visitors during the current day and another column beside with the stats from yesterday, for each counter in the overview! (Instead of only the "total" and "hit usage" columns). I would like to

Thanks for a great service!

Out of all of the other counters this is the most detailed affordable web hit counter I have ever tried! Keep up the good work! Your website looks good with my browser.

Well a little while ago I posted my only message here making a plea for clearer chart colours, and I am so pleased with what you have done.

I use your free service, and it is one of the mainstays of my sitebuilding efforts. Now it is even better.

Well done everybody and thank you!

Your browser or firewal or anti spyware programs are blocking the site.

Check settings and also the hosts file. You may find it contains the Statcounter domain.

You might have some spyware or adware installed on your computer that is hijacking the links. I would suggest running Ad-Aware or Spybot Search & Destroy, both have free personal editions.

I need to know what company is viewing my site, so I can determine do I need to send them some advertising or additional info to jumpstart a sale.If you did send some advertising to someone who didn't request it, that would be spam. The mere fact that I visit your site doesn't mean I want more information from you. If I do want it, I'll use your contact link to request it.
