Where are you getting this message? Which page(s) have you installed SC on? I looked at your home page but couldn't find it.

I saw the file corrupt message when I previewed my site, so I didn't bother to upload it.

We cannot tell what you are doing wrong without looking at what you did.
You may have messed up the code, left out the all or part of the security code, or inserted it in the wrong place.

You can upload the page under a diferent name and psot the link if you don't want your live page to be seen with that message.

I just signed up to StatCounter and got the same message:
"Code corrupted. Insert fresh copy."

I have tried reconfiguring the counter by opting for the StatCounter logo option, but this has not helped:

The counter code is at the very bottom of this page, just before the </body> tag:

Any advice or assistance would be much appreciated.

Paul,

Your page looks fine, no errors. Statcounter logo bottom left of page.

Many thaks Kelly. I think it might be somekind of **** firewall configuration at my work here that is preventing me from seeing the counter and replacing it with the "Code corrupted. Insert fresh copy" message.

many thanks for your help.

Yes, it shows in Firefox, but not in IE. I see that it collects data successfully from visitors using either browser. Weird!

... I think it might be somekind of **** firewall configuration

Sounds VERY painful Paul. I think you need some "Preparation H" cream for that!

I'm getting the code corrupted message as well. Everything worked fine on my old site, but the program I used (Serif WebPlus9) has become very corrupted so I'm building a new site using Web Studio. On this program the same code that worked fine on the old site is giving the error message in preview. Will it show ok when I upload? I don't think it's anything to do with a firewall as I'm using the same Norton Security program. By the posts, it seems this is a recent problem that has appeared. Has anything changed at the StatCounter end?

Baffled :(

Just make sure you're copying the code correctly and inserting it corectly. WYSIWYG editors are not recommended unless you're able to work in source code mode.

Yes, I am inserting it correctly! It was correct when I did it on my first site and it is correct on this one. It seems to me from the posts on this topic that this is a problem at the StatCounter end rather than the user end.

I was intending to subscribe to the full product, but I shall wait until this bug is sorted out.

Where is this error showing now? You should give a link.

It doen't happen on the existing site, only on the new one I am working on. That won't be uploaded until the end of the month. At present the code error message appears every time I preview (IE) a page with the counter on it.

I have tried all the different types of link - invisible, visible, statcounter button, number etc. The same error message happens with all of them.

Whether this will appear on the new site when it is uploaded I do not know. I really do not want to risk it.

Well, are you viewing the pages you are making on your PC from inside the WYSIWYG program you are using? or are you viewing them using IE (or whatever browser you are using) from your own pc ?

WYSIWYG programs have different manners in which they deal with javascript, cookies, etc. You may try to see the various settings.

If you are viewing the page stoerd on you pc from the browser and are getting that error, again it must be your security settings which are different for pages stored on your own pc than for pages from the web. Check how you are dealing with Internet Zone and Intranet Zone. You are possibly blocking the script and counter image from an external site in your Intranet Zone security settings.

As I said earlier - I am using IE and all the setting on my computer are exactly the same as when I didn't have this problem. And it appears I am not the only one. This strongly suggests that the problem lies at the Statcounter end.

What can I say? You said yourself you are using a different editor now. Check the source code for the rendered page and you'll see what's what.

I am simply telling you that the problem is on your end, sorry to have to emphasize that.

Upload your page to a test area and see if it works or not there. Check the source code on the rendered page.

It is never advisable to use any WYSIWYG editor UNLESS you really know how to handle working in source code view. It is far better to use Notepad to add code to the source, this way you know precisely that the WYSIWYG editor is not going to add any code you did not intend to have, as is typically the case when accidentally working in layout mode.

I AM working in source code view! I always edit my html codes in this way. Your statcounter does not work.

Sorry to hear that. It's not MY Statcounter, but it is my fav piece of software :) . It works for everybody who doesn't mess up, so you may try to accept the inevitable conclusion that you're doing something wrong. We can't help you sight unseen though, so try to upload your page somewhere, it shouldn't be so hard.

Guerry, your code is OK, what seems to be the problem?

I can see guerrys site ok also, i agree chrisooc on chocolatefishs issue, i would suggest uploading your test site to the external or internal testing server and see if that works, if it dosn't work internally try and get someone else to test the url and see if it works for them, if it works for them its a case of melted chocolate - if it dos'nt - oh well
