True, but they also say it's for 10:39am EDT! It's is now 9:33am EDT!

Today's launch time is precisely calculated for 10:39:00 a.m. EDT.

I saw it take off a few years ago (like 1992) when I was in the uSA. it was the loudest, most powerful thing I have ever witnessed. I hate the word awsome, but it was.

:)

You mean it's already taken off for you too? I thought you would still be at the countdown phase

Just saw it too - brought the window to the foreground 10 seconds before lift-off. Now it's already at 127 (statute??) miles above Italy. That was mighty fast!

Did I hear speeds of 60000 miles/hour??????

60000? I saw 16000mph.

Oh, maybe 16000 mph and I misheard  - I didn't notice it written.

Still - 6000 or 16000 or 60000 - that's awfully fast!

That's 100 to 1000 times faster that the fastest we are allowed on our highways :D

Not me! I'm the one you're probably tailgating and honking angrily at

With our massive traffic jams and lousy roads riddled with potholes rivaling any war zone after an air raid, not possible anyway

Christina .... on my chair at the pc

:

Tailgaters ought to have their tails lopped off :D
They engage in one of the most dangerous practices on the roads, which don't reduce journey times but just increase deaths.

I'm a good boy on the roads, driving with dipped headlights as per
the Volvos and never buying a dangerously coloured car....silver being the worst! (that should provoke a few crys!) Try seeing them in rain/fog etc., probably with their light out too.

Speaking of silver cars, I recently almost had a nasty collision with one merging onto my road at an angle from the left. I looked that way before proceeding though I had the right of way, and I didn't see anything at all. I was looking straight at the sun at that moment - and as I proceeded I almost jumped out of my car as this asphalt coloured thing appeared inches away from my door on the left and vying for the same road lane. My heart missed a few beats. I should have seen this car, were it not for it being invisible against the sun and on a grey asphalt road.

Now tailgaters... I seem to have had some vindication on more than one occasion when some such idiot would tailgate so close that I can barely see the top of his car, then pass me on the wrong side usually (the right, here), come in front of me quickly and put the breaks. On two occasions in their quest for "punishing" me, one caused an accident with another car, another miscalculated his distance and crashed into the fence at the side of the road, and one time - glory be! - the police happened to be right there and took care of the lout. Maybe I should carry a sign on my bumper with these stats

How do you stop a tailgater? Put your left foot on the brake without taking your right foot of the accelerator (gas to you yanks), then watch your rear view mirror as the tailgater's nose dips as he slams on his brakes

If it's during the day, just switch your lights on. Has the same wonderful effect
