how do sites do this???

hello all, can i have some technical expertese please. How do websites create thumb nail pictures of website homepages.

You could just take a screen shot and then resize the image in any image editing software then save it as a thumbnail....

Like PageZ says, take a screen shot and then size it down. Try ScreenRip32 at "http://www.progency.com/" to get the screen shot. Then use some editing program to size it. I like XnView at "http://www.xnview.com/" for editing most of the time.

well ive downloaded the ScreenRip32 but cant work out how to use it. Ive tried grabbing a window of gourangaoo and it only seems to pick up the black background and then freezes.What am i doing wrong>>>

You can get a decent screenshot from your keyboard.

"PrtSCrn", usually located along or on a Function button, will take a screenshot, and then that image can be "Pasted" in to image editing software.

This image, taken for a discussion elsewhere in the forum, was done that way:
