A question to all those out there who make a living from the internet.
Firstly, my main site PageZ has never been about making money and the only revenue it generates comes from google adsense. However - I am launching another site and this one is not going to be as restricted as the first. I am fairly sure that I can get traffic going to it as I will advertise it on my home page.
But does anyone know how to sell advertising space other than adsense?
Z is currently getting about 15000 unique per week and I would like to know how to use that kind of traffic to earn money on my new site.

Cheers
Neil

I'm probably the last person you should want advice from, however;

There are affiliate programs that provide advertisers. You join the program and are provided with specially prepared links to the businesses you chouse to be affiliated with. These links, when clicked by a visitor, set a cookie and then take the visitor to the businesses web site. Any purchase made is recorded and you get a percent of the sale. Be sure to read and understand their agreements.

I use Commission Junction and Performics plus a couple of others. I'm sure you would want something in your country and I can't help you there. It should also be noted that I have earned nothing so far with these affiliates. Of course, I don't get 15000 unique hits a week either. :)

Google also offer its version of the above where a visitor can target your site with their ads. Since you already have the Google Ads, this might be an idea.

I also remember someone on this board that had a signature link to a UK affiliate program site.

Good luck.

Presumably you sell the 'clicks' to someone who thinks he can use them.
There were some cheap disposable game cards that fitted into mobile phones (don't ask me how). They were marketed by a comapny called Inca Gold in Isle of Man.
A company like that might pay you for an advert based on the click rate?

You can earn money from your site easily using affiliate programs.
One of the easiest and profitable affiliate programs online is clickbank.

You can paste affiliate links of any type of products on your site and use free clickbank search box that can earn you money from the search results.

Whenever visitors buy any products from your links or search results, you can earn upto 75% commission of the price.

I found the value of a link on your page to be LinkValue: 3.5 € that is according to http://www.linkvendor.com/seo-tools/linkvalue.html . However, I believe google has its own link value calculator and I am sure there are many others as well. I would not trust those values too much as I just did the same calculation on my website and came up with a higher value (3.81 €) and I can only dream of the day I get the kind of traffic your site gets.

What an interesting site - I never knew such a thing existed. I tried it and got 3.5 euros as well. Maybe its not to do with the amount of traffic you get but the content - or something like that....
Anyway thanks for that - another site justgone into my favourites list and will probably end up being one of the ones that I show to the kids at school!
Just out of interest and ont he subject of traffic - it is 9.33 in the evening here in the UK and pagez has up till now had 2,682 unique for the day - a new record for me...

Neil,

If you can't make money from that kind of traffic then we all have to accept that the web isn't worth advertising on.

It's "just" a case of turning hits into revneue which puts you one step ahead of the rest of us that would take the hits as a good start.

I have tonight signed up to that 'Tradedoubler' mob. I will have a good look through what htey have to offer and see if there is anything of interest to place on the site. I will let you know of progress.

I have been selling advertising space in the form of text links on my hobby site for over a year now. The site I use is Link Adage (http://www.linkadage.com). Link Adage is where I have had the greatest profit. I have tried using brokers for selling text link ads, but they did not work as well for me.

On Link Adage, it seems the selling factor of a site is not traffic as much as it is Google PageRank. My site only gets on average 10,000 uniques per week, but has a Google PR of 6. I been able to sell text links off my homepage for close to $30/month. I sell 10 off the homepage, which does bring in a nice bit of cash.

Hi Neil,

This is something I looked at a while back but as you know i've not had much time lately so haven't got round to testing it out. Might be worth taking a look though, http://www.text-link-ads.com/?ref=53513

All the best.
Michael.
