* The IP Blocking does not appear to be working properly when an IP range is entered using asterisks. (I entered the blocking range the exact same way it appears in a current SC3 project, where it continues to work successfully.)

I am beta testing.
I have noticed 1 problem already - the “block IP address” is not working in beta. I added my current IP, but beta is counting me each time.

I agree that the IP blocking feature doesn’t take effect.
Otherwise, it’s fine for me.
Thanks again StatCounter for this very cool tool.

I am using the beta and I noticed that when I block my IP so it doesn’t show up on the counter, my IP still shows up.
Thought I would let you know it doesn’t seem to be working.

It is logging visits from me, rather than excluding them. I double checked the ip number I excluded and it correct.

Sure, you guys have a great counter already. I’d be more than happy to help!
I just added it. I’m also seeing the “IP Blocking” isn’t working.

I am added new counter and till now found already mentioned problems - IP blocking doesn’t work and “search engine war” shows SC3 statistic.

Hey,

thanks for all beta testers to report this important issue about the IP Blocking!
Now I'm glad to announce we've fixed this bug - IP blocking (with optional masking, using asterisks as in SC3) works well in SC4 too.

If you have any questions, or still have problems related to this issue, don't hesitate to report us.
thank you,

Tamás Kálmán

Sorry, it appears that there are still outstanding issues with IP blocking. (Perhaps some of today's many code updates have interfered with changes made to re-enable IP blocking?)

Yesterday, it appeared that IP blocking issues had been resolved in SC4. Visits from my blocked IPs were no longer being recorded in the Pageview information.

At some point today, one of my blocked IPs began appearing in the Pageview logs again. I attempted to manually re-enter the IP address into my blocking list, but without success.

The earliest recorded instance of this IP blocking issue resurfacing was shortly after 20:00 GMT in my logs.

I appreciate how quickly and thoroughly you've been tackling everything in the beta test. Thanks in advance!

Not resolved yet. It's still registering my visits too.

Hello Jenster,

you've right - and older release was still active so we've re-enabled the new fixed version again. Please test it and let us know if the problem still exists! Thank you for the proper SC4 beta testing,

Tamas Kalman

In the Opera 9 browser but not in IE7 the counter for the new version still shows “StatCounter - FreeWeb Tracker and Counter” in place of the counter whenever the Blocking cookies are set.
I tried making the counter invisible and tried using one of the banners in place of the counter but it still shows the same
The counter for the present version works fine, only affects the new one

The “invisible” option has suddenly become visible on my webpage… The only way I found to fix it was to delete the whole bottom section of code.

“RESOLVED: Use of Blocking Cookie causing counter not to display”
But it isn’t fully resolved see my message above
Also having logged into the Forum I’m not allowed to post or reply to posts or quote??? So all I can do is read it??whats that all about??

Hello,

thank you for the detailed bug report! This issue was resolved once, but we had to migrate the old code with the new one and there were incompatibility issues. I think now all blocking cookie related issues are finally resolved. I've visited your page with opera as well and it looked nice.
Thank you for supporting SC4 beta testing,

Tamas Kalman
