Download stats - how to configure correct

How do I make a link to give results on the 'Downloads'-page. I've made a test page for this beta testing with some PDF-links wich give no result when clicked. Is there any preparation needed since my browser can read PDF without downloading?

I see nothing special to configure. Just make sure you are using a new beta counter project and that you have added the url of the website (http://www.example.com/ and http://example.com/ ) to the project settings to establish what url prefixes belong to your site and are there fore internal - thus by exclusion, any others will be exit links.
