I installed the new sc4 code in Beautiful Minds and its showing 5 hits extra than the Old code.!
That is the test drive = old code hits + 5 hits
NB: This is having less traffic.. example 63 : 67 (old : new)

Don't know if this is relevant, but the instructions say to place the SC4 code below your old existing code. I didn't read this carefully enough and I was missing visitors and not getting any exit records.
I see that you have the SC4 code way up on your page, above your existing code.

I am not sure if this is the same issue, so I checked my code and the old code IS above the new, at the bottom of the page.
The stats for old and new have never been in sync, and today they are really off
most of the day, the new code showed 4-10 fewer hits than old code, but all of a sudden, the new code is 11 hits higher than old.
Exit links are few -- only about 8 total shown since the weekend - unless no one's left :-)
any ideas why this could be happening?
Thanks!
Karen

I don't know about the hit difference, it's being worked on.
But the exit links will only happen if somebody actually clicked a link to go elsewhere. If they simply closed the browser or typed in another url in the address bar or a Google search box, then that can't get recorded.

Hi everyone,
I just installed the SC4 code, but I haven't noticed any remarkable differences with this code and the previous one as yet. It is working though, I had to block my IP address so it would not count my visits.

The differences are in the extra information it logs - like exit links and clicks on file types that can't take Statcounter code, such as media files, images, pdf's, zip, etc.

I have the same problem. The SC4 code has more count than the old code. And it is installed below the old code.

Richard.. I dont have any item in exit links.!(Attachment)[Your visit is in recent activities]
May Be coz because of what christina said. The issue still remain.! there is a difference in the number.. SC4 is 3 greater than what SC3 shows!
Pss.. in the recent keyword SC4 is showing additional stuufs like the search done in MSN(not shown in SC3).

In the morning 9am, SC4 has more hit count than SC3. Now at 6pm, it is the reverse. SC4 now has fewer hit count than SC3. This is really interesting...

Hi suzette,
As your SC3 project has been around a while it may be on pages that you don't know about. To make it a fair test - can you reset your security code for SC3 and then compare the results.
To reset your security code:
* Login to your account.
* Click the "wrench" icon beside your SC3 project
* Click the "Security Code" link
* Submit the form and update your security code for your SC3 project on your website. It looks like this var sc_security="XXXXXXX";
This way it is a fair test - as both the SC3 and SC4 code are only on the pages you know about it.
Could you give this a go and report your findings?
I've just done the same thing now for the StatCounter.com website as well.

Hi! Aodhan,
I actually configured the counter's initial value to be the same. In another thread I reported a bug that the counter image on my site is not reflecting the new value after I changed that (for SC4).
After seeing the two counters reporting different hit count, I reset the numbers again (in total twice I reset them to be the same).
And it is still reporting different hit coutns --> not many, off by 4 yesterday morning, then -2 in the evening, and this morning it is -1.

I usually see a small discrepancy between the two. Either higher or lower.
Sometimes it misses a page load, sometimes it misses the entire IP, but so far it's just been a single page load visitor, and most often from Australia.

I have stopped blocking my IP to a site using SC3 & SC4.
At this time, only SC3 is counting me???

Thanks for informing, guess that will make the hit count difference between SC3 and SC4 bigger now. Will reset and test again. BTW, though it was only difference of a few hits per day, from end Friday till now (early Mon), the difference can be totalled up to 40 hits!

Oops! Sorry, didn't see the post date! :P
Anyway, hit count difference is still happening - is this normal?

Well thsi is what we are trying to establish.
it makes sense for sc4 to register more hits than sc3 just because ti also logs downloads of non html files, exist links too.
It doesnt' make sense if it's lower.
As for the displayed number not agreeing with the one you set, it's probably a bug and it only shows the true number as logged from inception. A detail.

I put the SC4 code just below the old code.
Some days the counts match or are off by only 1 or 2.
Other days they're way off.
Example today so far the old code says 1451 visitors
The SC4 code says 814 visitors
