Hello there,

SC used to work like a charm and suddenly, last friday, I lost all hit recording on my project. It's a SCA beta test counter. I first lost details in counting (global hits showing off on the web), then today, I recovered a minimum hit recordings details in the summary page for saturday (but far from the actual connection hits I manually recorded), but ... the counter image online stopped showing off.

I suppose it's the same for all users here, but I needed those counters, and detailed recordings, in order to measure the impact of an election campaign at my university. Now the campaign stops tomorrow, it's lost money.
I could get an answer from the support team (refresh the script ... omg), I did it (and was unable to do it all saturday long, browser freezing on Mac and PC, on firefox and Safari ...), and when I finally got through the process and installed the new code .... no changes appeared.

I am really sad about this situation, the support team only answered back 5 minutes ago, more than 45 hours after I praised them to do something.

I have to mention that I raised my logs to 25 000 after an incident : the end of my subscription came without any notice from statcounter, causing my logs to be resetted just like this ... I lost some data, but nothing really important, and then raised to 25 000. It was 2 weeks ago, then what I have just told you about has happened, last friday.

Now what? I have a project that shows neither global records online, nor detailed ones in the project summary.

All the efforts have been wiped out and till now I have no precise explanation from SC. I am afraid, though it used to be an outstanding service, that I won't use it any longer, in any project that needs the crucial help of web statistics.

Yours, but not for a long time now.

Hello Hugenius

I am very sorry about your lose of service and stats. I'm not connected to SC, just a forum MOD, so I can't speak for SC.

SC4 is beta, and along with beta programs comes interruptions and bugs from time to time. Being a beta program, support is not the first priority I suppose. My experience over the last 4 years with SC, support has always been prompt for the most part. They are concerned about quality of service & support and may have had their hands full at this time.

SC3 has been stable with few exceptions and although lacking the new features of SC4, would be a better choice for a business until SC4 has proven itself.

Hey Car Guy,

you are completely right, I made a mistake in the first place, when chosing to build a beta project along with the site of the campaign. And I agree : support team has always been reactive.
But in the case we are talking about, I have reported several problems (the site has been on for a month, and will stop at the end of the campaign), one of them was the "database access s02 or s03 unavailable". No one told me this was actually an issue known to be one of the troubles the beta servers were in. It was 2 week ago, I could have built another site counter , now it's too late.

Moreover, there is something that I can't admit from a professional web counter : the expiracy of my subscription has never been recalled to me, and you know how many expiracy deadlines we have to remember! Warning users should be top priority, I lost data because of this, and no warning prevented me from losing those data.

Again, I have been very happy with SC since the first time I used it, 2 or 3 years from now. This issue just comes to the very bad moment faor all the staff that counted on that counter.

Yours

I suspect your anger is fueled by having to explain your decision to install clearly labeled beta software as your sole source of hit data to the boss.

hehe, no, the fact is ... I have nothing to explain that my colleagues would understand ... we are in a litterature and humanities oriented university ... the Boss I can handle him.
