Default Who are these people...

I notice that the Inktomi Corporation hits my blog once or twice a day. Who are they?

That is Yahoo's search engine spider. Yahoo bought Inktomi a while back and uses their spider (called Slurp) to build indexes for the various SE's that they own, including Yahoo itself, AltaVista, and others. That -- or some related thing -- is probably what you're seeing.

Right now, MSN Search also uses Yahoo's index, but Microsoft is building its own index that will eventually replace Yahoo results. (If you're curious, you can find the new self-spidered MSN index at http://beta.search.msn.com.)

Interesting...

For some reason I have been compelled to put up a website and blogging was the easiest way. Learning a lot of stuff from this forum.

Interesting MSN search engine... I found my few-days-old newest pages already indexed in there!

It might be a good idea to see if you are on MSN. If not get it on there. It can't hurt. It should get you on others by default.
