Default Firmware updates for cable modems

Has anyone else experienced issues with firmware updates for cable modems. I am told they have to be pushed from the ISP to the modem but was recently informed that not all manufacturers will supply the firmware updates to the ISP. I had one tell me today that it was the job of the ISP to actually write the firmware for the manufacturers modem.

I have composed a letter to one of the executives at that company and am awaiting a response from it tomorrow. If I do not get an appropriate resolution to this issue I am going to post my story in detail on the web to several high traffic forums like google groups and yahoo answers as well as write and submit a press release to some of the newspaper correspondents I know here who write for the New York times and the Post. I think I can probably reach a million readers a day with just posting to google groups for adobe, macromedia, front page, web design and several areas in yahoo answers personally.

Their tech support staff had me on the telephone for like 5 hours today and would not help me at all even when I three way called them with my ISP network admin on the line as well.
