Fun Page Redesign Ideas

Hello,

I have a silly page that I made and you can send out emails at a later date. I made it late one night and it is kind of 'loose'.

I am going to rebuild it and I was going to see if you could think of any fun features I could add.

Here is what I plan on doing so far:
Validating fields
Creating 'random' date and it will send on a date less then 2 years from now.
Preview post before it saves
Create a little member area where it will show the items in the 'queue'
Show a counter of how many items are in the queue
Clarify the server date and time

Repeat above over an over via robot entries from a spam list. I agree with activewebs.

Now, if you make it private to members with strict (very strict) guidelines and a lot of other safeguards it might be useful for something ... but I have no idea what that would be.

Geez, you guys sure took my fun idea and made it negative.

So instead of being a party pooper you could be constructive and suggest a captcha.

Captcha is not enough. You will also need to control your users' input. User signup + login + moderation of both signup and whatever they post. And this spells trouble for you over time.

Sorry, but it really isn't a good idea. You are basiclaly allowing every Tom, Dick and Harry to relay email through your server. Before you know it your server will be on every spam filtering list. Your own hoster may kick you out too.

it's not all negative from the prior commentators because they are giving your idea the benefit of the doubt that it will be a success.

according to their scenarios your fun site will attract so very much traffic whether the visitors are a few having fun using the site for the purpose you designed it for, or a large group who use it for spam purposes. so it will be popular but popular for what? spam? maybe yes. fun? yes.

then you will actually be joining the ranks of like myspace, or facebook, twitter or yes even statcounter. we know some people (more than I care to guess) have probably not used these sites as they were designed to be used.

the way i see it, if you spent hours upon hours building it and no one comes, that's a negative.

I did try it and I gave a "safe" e-mail address that is non-business non-personal. I liked the idea of knowing my "future" take on things. That will not only be fun but insightful.

I am hoping to get an e-mail three months from now.

I can definatly see where it could be abused.

My mother is a motivational speaker and she asked me to make the site one day before she had an event.

Her class was a group of 1-14 year old girls that lived in a 'home', she asked that I make it so that the girls could email them selves a couple months later with goals that they set to see if they had achieved them.

Its meant to be a positive, I am not going to take it down but I will make you have to log in and have a captcha installed.
