how do I turn off the page counter at the bottom of my website?

A lot may depend on the how you set-up your counter during the counter configuration, but one thing you can try first is to go into your counter code and see and/or set the following line to a 1

var sc_invisible=0; the zero is for a visible counter and var sc_invisible=1; would be for a invisible counter.

Else, you may need to re-generate the code again.
